Wow those crazy toys surely are a sight, how terrifying!

It's both brilliant and terrifying for mimicking the product it's based on.

I don't think Scott is consciously exploiting the brand, he just doesn't have the artistic integrity of some other game devs. He realizes he's struck gold so he's...
OK nevermind he's exploiting the shit out of it
People are willing to buy merchandise because they like the game, what's the problem? It's much better than like most of devs do, when there are either no merchandise or it's stupid things like caps/t-shirts, or overpriced and limited figurines.
'Brilliant and terrifying'? They're... Mildly creepy looking figures mimicking the exact designs of the game, which was mildly creepy. Kind of exactly what you would expect from FNAF toy range.

(I can't wake up!)
I don't blame the guy for this. He struck gold and if he doesn't fuck it up by blowing it all on drugs, starting an airline company, or leasing a sports car, he and his descendants are going to be living well.

He donates most if not all of it on charity. Hell, if I remember right, he still works his day job in some shitty place because he put so much of his FNAF money into charity.
If I made an indie game that turned out as big as his did, you'd better believe I'd try to make as much money off of it as possible. I don't like the games personally, but I have no problems with the dev at all. Hell, he pulled his game off steam because he felt it wasn't finished enough and THEN went ahead and released for free after that.

I would
Wake me up when Space Hulk Deathwing: Kill Freddy is announced.
Really gotta give it to the production team on the toys. I'd say they managed to amplify or rekindle the feeling of "trying to be cutesy but fucking up terribly" and thick grime that the first game evoked well, maybe even better than the original itself. Love seeing good production work.
