I volunteer at a Charity Shop every Saturday (Blue cross, if you're interested), and one of the jobs I regularly do is to check, and price, any stock that they consider to be more valuable than the normal influx of clothes and books and old videos. After several weeks doing this, I've decided to start taking photos, to show you just what kind of random (But interesting/awesome) stuff can end up here, and what its fate may be. I'm not quite sure what these are. It said they're a card holder, to help people trying to collect all of them. The orc is pretty cool, though. This could fetch a couple of wads. Never heard of the game, though... THIS was interesting. I couldn't find a price for it, though. It's an old map of Italy for use by the allies during the invasion in 1944. I don't even know what that means. We get a lot of tin, wind-up toys. These weren't that valuable; the mouse has a plastic tail, so isn't that old. The scotty dog was worth £30, surprisingly. I almost cried when I saw these. First generation, Rare pokemon booster packs. 11 cards of nostalgia in each pack. I took these for myself, for the meager cost of 75p per pack. We had a lot of halfords catalogues this week, from the 50s to the 80s. See if you can name any of these guys. Old bike catalogue, 1952. I remember these things. Wooden block puzzles, and a couple of SNAP games. An old pajama case. Possibly worth £400. It's been here for a while, actually. I think it's a hindu god, but I'm not sure. It's a 10 inch tall, full cast bronze statuette, and I need to find out how much it's worth. Some of the stuff I've found is very valuable, some of it is worthless, other stuff is just interesting to find. Other stuff I've found includes: A pair of WW1 standard-issue binoculars Several large volumes of an encyclopedia Lots of tin toys 60s toy dolls/doll accessories Several original beatrix potter books (Jemima Puddle-duck was my favourite)
My mother works in one, they got a load of expensive handbags and shit in since it's a decent area, some worth like £400 :v: Lots of cool shit ends up in these places, I like them.
Extremely cool. Love those pokemon cards. :3
Yeah my grandad goes around all our local charity shops and comes back with some fucking ridiculous bargains. I dunno why they set the price point so low when they could clearly get more for half the stuff.
[img_thumb]http://img199.imageshack.us/img199/9586/dscf0105h.jpg[/img_thumb]
Reminds me of pablo the drug mule dog.
Reminds me of pablo the drug mule dog.
I DID say it could be worth £400...
God damnit, I am jelly.
Extremely cool. Love those pokemon cards. :3
Am I meant to open them or not? They're pretty much untouched. The Team Rocket one is torn slightly, so the card tops are partially exposed, and most of the packs are a little worn, but the cards seem to be fine. I'm not sure whether or not you're meant to take the cards out to see what they are, or keep them sealed and sell the packs in 10 years or so.
I hate charity shops. They smell of old ladies.
I DID say it could be worth £400...
How big is it? It doesn't look big enough to be a pyjama bag.
Try sell them, although you might feel bad flipping off a charity shop.
They were going to put them on sale for 75p :v: [editline]22nd January 2011[/editline]
How big is it? Wait, so you sell these things right? Do they have items on ebay...because I fucking want that map.
Wait, so you sell these things right? Do they have items on ebay...because I fucking want that map.
I'm not sure, we might put some of them up for auction. I'll see what the manager plans to do with them, we could put them on ebay.
I'm not sure, we might put some of them up for auction. I'll see what the manager plans to do with them, we could put them on ebay.
Yeah man, keep me updated could you? I'm really interested in that map.
Peavy how much would you pay for that map [editline]23rd January 2011[/editline] I want it
The pokemon cards are now stored in a freezer bag to keep them safe. I have few facilities for maintaining collectible items :v: [editline]22nd January 2011[/editline] holy shit so many people want that map of italy Seriously guys, it's not mine to give, I can't just send it off to you, I'm a humble volunteer :(
Yeah, if it gets on ebay it's mine is what I meant
Those pokemon cards are pretty awesome
Oh shit you got the Charizard card wrap. I've wanted that ever since Pokémon was the shit back in the day. Edit: Back then I didn't even care about the card itself, I just loved how awesome it looked on the wrap. A few years back I found one of those cards where the colors change when you turn it, which was also Charizard, but I don't know where it is now. :smith:
I doubt I've got the Charizard card, that one's just a base card pack. I'm more excited about the Fossil one, does that mean it has Aerodactyl and co.? :3:
You must see some pretty amazing things. I'm also interested in the map. It would go along great with my other army stuff, like my Vietnam-era Pistols and Revolvers army training manual.
I might be interested in that statue as it looks awesome and I like them South-East Asian gods.
Yeah, if it gets on ebay it's mine is what I meant
Is it a bid war you want?
Also get a picture of those WW1 binoculars up, they sound awesome.
Unfortunately I think the binoculars were sold on already, I didn't see them on the shelf today.
That just reminded me that I've got 4 whole bags full of old videos that I meant to take down to the charity shop. I do like to take a look in them sometimes to see if anything interesting does get given in, rarely ever find something really interesting though.
Might actually go bargain hunting sometime.
Yeah, if it gets on ebay it's mine is what I meant
And I will track you down, cut off your head, and take the map. I'll probably skull fuck you too, for good measure.
