Almost every unforgettable moment from cinematic history stems from a thought inducing or adrenaline pumping climax. When Michael Corleone shoots down two men in cold blood and unwillingly becomes the very person he set out not to. The game of Russian roulette at the end of The Deer Hunter or when Alex DeLarge returns to his natural persona. And that's just to list a few.
When Edward sucks the venom out of Bella but it doesn’t fix her wooden and uncharismatic personality. Heart Shattering.
So I’m curious what cinematic climax has touched you most. Or maybe excited you beyond belief. Or maybe made you cream your pants. Personally mine is in “Amadeus” When Mozart was told of his father’s death and the Opera that succeeds the event. I watched the movie for that scene 10 times, I shit you not.
The first time I saw the Mumakil charge in LOTR. I creamed my pants.
End of inception, my heart rate spikes up to like 160 bpm even though I know what happens.
Well when I saw Chef take a spear to the back yesterday I HNNG'd.
T-rex break out scene from Jurassic Park.
It's the turning point of the whole movie, and it still is up to par with CGI from current-day movies.
the three-way climax in return of the jedi
the space battle over endor
the fight between luke and vader
the fight on endor itself
say what you want about the ewoks, it's an awesome climax nonetheless
The ending scenes from the first Alien.
At the end of Sixth Sense, when Bruce Willis was dead.
I lol'd.
Godfather, the christening bit.
Best of the 70s at least.

The end sequence of "Requiem for a Dream" and the climax of "Session 9"....both always make me feel tense.

I've always considered the final writing of the requiem to be the climax of that film. The beauty of Mozart's Requiem combined with the absolute devotion to destruction of Salieri create a cinematic masterpiece.
The climax of the Empire Strikes back, Lando, Leia, R2, Chewie and Threepio are escaping Cloud City with the Empire on their trail, Han Solo is being taken to Jabba the Hutt and Luke is facing down Darth Vader himself. Hnngh.
I love most movies where a lot of different things are going on at once and they're all building up into one thing, movies like Inception.
That end sequence in Requiem for a Dream left me in awe for about 10 minutes.
How could I forget, American History X!
You knew something was going to happen but when it did you were still just shocked by it.
Inception and Memento have amazing endings. I was literally on the edge of my seat with both of them, but more so with Memento.

Actually, I thought about that and to me that was the resolution. of course, when Salieri's plot to murder Mozart was foiled by Mozart's death and Salieri says that god would rather kill his most magnificent creation than let Salieri have even one recognized piece that he "wrote". An "oh shit" moment indeed but it wasn't the clmax. It was a touching moment when Salieri realizes that he loves Mozart's music more than he can ever hate Mozart the man. A fantastic conclusion but I don't think it was the climax.
the squid and the whale, when the older son runs to the museum of natural history
shits pretty cathartic, man.
also, of course:

Although some of my favorite scenes have already been said, I will have to say the finale to The Good, The Bad, The Ugly is nothing short of epic for me:

And Aliens too, when Ripley steps out wearing the robot suit thing and says "Get away from her you bitch!" you know some shit is about to go down.
uhh the good the bad and the ugly of course
The part in Munich where they're trying to stop the guys from setting off the phone bomb
District 9. The part when Wikus gets inside the prawn exosuit or whatever and rapes every single MNU merc while protecting Christopher.
And then he watches the ship's departure from earth. Fucking awesome.

and the obligatory Inception ending
The Hurt Locker when James is trying to defuse the bomb rig on the civilian. I also really liked the sniper scene as well.
The end of The Usual Suspects when the police officer starts reading the back of his wall and works out who Kaiser Sose is.
The Dark Knight's what, like 3 climaxes?
I'm actually surprised no one mentioned the last scene of Apocalypse Now. That's the best killing scene of all time IMO.
