• Need some Data for Stats class, would FP be so kind to help?

So in our stats class, we got a project at the end of the year. We have to gather some statistical data, and compare them using proper statistical inference methods, ex. 2 sample t-tests, ect. What i am trying to find some data on is if living in a city, compared to a suburb, shows differences in the student's average grades. I made a poll to help me gather my data, if you guys would please answer it truthfully, that would great. Thanks! Edit: forgot to add a middle, rate "agree" for City--> average and "disagree" for suburb---> average
FB, do you mean Facebook?
FB, do you mean Facebook?
Fixed* sorry about that
What if you have average grades?
Ok, so I voted, but I have to point out a huge flaw in your questions... You're asking if our grades are above or below average; this data will tell you nothing, since you are basing it upon an unseen average, which you do not define. Obviously some of us will be above and some of us will be below.
What happened to the middle option?

The results of this poll, and average facepunch posting quality do not match up.

Wow what a surprise, half of facepunch are from the suburbs
I doubt this is a highly scientific survey, I think he just wants some numbers to fuck around with.
yea pretty much.
I plan on finding a national average to compare my results to.
However FP contains members from all over the world
You have to remember that the poll will be largely biased towards the "above average" set of answers due to illusory superiority.
Looks like I'm the majority.
You have to remember that the poll will be largely biased towards the "above average" set of answers due to illusory superiority.
thanks, ill be sure to put that in my error analysis
Oh look, everyone is Suburbs/Rural----->High, above average Grades. Including me.
So everyone on FP is above average that means there's not many people in the average oh wait
So everyone on FP is above average that means there's not many people in the average oh wait
The above average, has become the average. :psyduck:
jkhjk
But of course
What if your area hits the actual grade, without going above or below it?
Suburbs. And getting them A+'s all day erryday since I was like 6 yo. But I live in the U.S. and our education system is pants on head retarded.
bump for some extra data
Us rural gets get bored. so we do our homework when we get bored a lot of the time. or go shoot something.
Im just going to compare high grades with city vs high grades with suburb. Be like, live in suburb=better grades, get A, whoohoo
I voted for a answer that isn't true.
I voted for a answer that isn't true.
Rebel.
I voted for a answer that isn't true.

Rebel.
Because obviously I'm a rich kid in the suburbs with the highest grand point average in the world.
Facepunch isn't really a reliable source since most of us are nerds in school.
