[release]While sitting in on a panel at the 2012 Arizona Comic Convention, Rob Liefeld let slip confirmation that the superhero spin-off film is closer to beginning production than anyone could have believed. [39:40 minutes into the video]

Visual Effects artist Tim Miller and co-founder of Blur Studios, who had also worked in the VFX department of other X-Men movies, has signed on to helm the Deadpool spinoff film as his first production sitting in a director's chair. Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (Zombieland) are writing the script, while Lauren Shuler Donner is attached as a producer. Ryan Reynolds, who played a modified version of the character in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, has expressed repeated interest in reprising the role but due to an already inflated film schedule it appears he has essentially pulled away from the project.
There hasn't been any further news regarding the film over the past several months, making many fans believe it had quietly been shelved. Now, Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld has shared details about test footage that has apparently been shot.
"They’ve got a great director on the movie, they’ve got a great script. I may or may have not seen some sort of test of footage that would blow your mind if you saw it and go holy crap and that’s Deadpool in costume. Katana swords, guns, shooting people’s faces off and making me laugh. And I may or may not have seen something that looks just like that. And you’ve got what would amount to the first R Rated X-Men movie. Because that script is R Rated.
They may or may not have wanted to shoot eight minutes to see how it would play. And all I can tell you, it’s close. It’s closer that it’s even been to going, or going Naaah, that’s too scary a proposition to make a R Rated Deadpool movie.”[/release]

Thank god, I don't think I would've been able to stand a PG-13 Deadpool movie.
If not Ryan Reynolds, then who?
those are some wicked swords
Glad it got an R Rating, you can't do Deadpool without the R Rating
RIP Ryan Reynolds
It's R-rated. Reynolds-rated.
no ryan reynolds?

he and liev shrieber were the only good parts of that piece of shit wolverine movie
Nathan Fillion would be pretty good for the role, even if he's 40 years old.

Oh god, the movie is going to be awesome. Deadpool is one of the best (super)heroes. His humor is great.
I wonder if they'll throw in some fourth wall breaks.
if they do they better be clever
unlike the ones in MUA2
"you cant win ur just an ai guy!"
"hi there, player!"
"oh boy experience points now i can level up!"

Yaaaaay!
Maybe its a good thing it's not Ryan, i'd have a boner in the theater and probably get thrown out..
Ryan Gosling for Deadpool, might as well replace a Ryan with another Ryan

He would be decent as Deadpool if he actually played the character instead of Baraka.

thats more chalked up to the filmmaker's anyway than his performance
He mentioned the Expendables at 40 minutes something, like related to the Deadpool thing. I'm worried now.
Am I the only one who hates how Ryan Reynolds acts?
