The TSA announced on Wednesday that it would stick with its current policy on carry-on baggage. The agency said it "appreciates the varying points of view shared throughout the review process." Those points of view were largely negative.
Source: http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2013/06/05/agency-drops-plan-to-allow-small-knives-on-planes/?test=latestnews
Damn it. Now I have to sneak them in through my asshole again.
Forgive me but what exactly would be the point of having one anyway? I really don't see why you'd need a knife on a plane unless you were just transporting it.
You can still bring knives in your normal luggage though. This is just about bringing them as carry on, which I don't even see a reason why you need a knife with your carry on.

My dad used to do some work overseas and he likes having a knife with him on the job for opening boxes and such. He was always able to take his knife with him.
[insert airplane food joke here]
You mean the plastic knifes and fork.s. you get.?
Forgive me but what exactly would be the point of having one anyway? Carrying a knife/multi-tool is just like carrying a wallet, phone, or keys.

If someone is gonna cause a ruckus on a plane, he'll find a way; knife or not.

I wonder why they don't let us bring knifes onto airplanes.
You can still bring knives in your normal luggage though. Many people who are traveling for the day do not check baggage. The better question is why can't you carry a knife. No. 9/11 isn't going to happen again. Nobody expected them to use the planes as weapons. Access to the cockpit was effectively not restricted. Now, even assuming you could somehow survive passengers deciding to beat you to death, the pilots will not open the door, even if you threaten to kill passengers. They will, however, vent the atmosphere on the aircraft, cut the O2 supply to the back, and proceed to force everyone unconscious except themselves. So you can't hijack a plane with a knife. So again, just fucking let knives on planes. Cowardice is one thing, but completely unfounded cowardice is simply pathetic.
You will be most likelyhood not find any legitimate use of your multitools or small knives on a plane, just put it in your luggage and you wont have any problems, you can retrieve it as fast as you get to your destination
So when are we gonna get the news "The TSA has been dropped"? The TSA serves absolutely no purpose except to harass travellers, steal iPads and waste taxpayer money.
It's more principal than anything and an adherent lack of trust on the TSA's part. If someone is gonna cause a ruckus on a plane, he'll find a way; knife or not.
Getting around the TSA is as simple as boarding an inbound plane leaving from a country with lax or easily bribed security.

I buy a lot of shit so packages can be opened quickly and anywhere. Great for yardwork to dig out weeds or cut some old twine or something. And, as sad as it is, you know just as well as I do that some retard is gonna ruin it for everyone.
Funny, back in 06 I think, I accidentally brought a double sided small concealable blade in my carry on, noone ever said anything or found it, but I kinda freaked when I noticed it was on the plane with me.
How often do you need to use a screwdriver or do yardwork when you are just randomly out and about?
I don't.

When I flew with (I think it was Southwest... maybe... I don't exactly remember), I was given a free 50lbs bag, anything more I had too pay extra. But the 50lbs was plenty for all of my shit. That was for a regular ticket. I know the higher level tickets gave you more free bags and shit. On top of that, they don't even charge that much for extra baggage, comparing to the cost of the ticket. But anyway, I digress. My guess why they dropped the idea isn't because they think 9/11 will happen again, but probably because people still feel incredibly uncomfortable with the idea. It's just a matter of time before people will get used to it again.
hah american airlines, having to pay for checked in luggage
How often do you need to use a screwdriver or do yardwork when you are just randomly out and about?
How often do you need a screwdriver or do yardwork aboard a plane.

The only times I get stopped is if I'm carrying enough electronics (wires, etc.) to supply a small village with power, which was common since I moved a lot and just stuffed that shit in my carryon as I've had things stolen from checked bags that were clearly opened.
Curses! My plans foiled once again. Damn you, TSA!
They will, however, vent the atmosphere on the aircraft, cut the O2 supply to the back, and proceed to force everyone unconscious except themselves.
Holy shit, can they actually do this? That's kind of a badass defence.
guys you can't take shampoo or hand sanitizer but we will allow you to take small derringers aboard
can I bring Sporks?
metal detectors are useless. A clever terrorist would bring a ceramic knife.
