Hey Facepunch,
I found a power supply in my house that's never been used and I'm placed it into my computer.
However examining the details on the sides of the two and the plug I was using, I'm a little confused. While I know a bit about electronics, I'm not clued up on how power in a computer works.
Here are the two PSWs:
Top one is the new one, despite the marks.. It's 650W

New is on the right

This confused me from the beginning, this red label on the front doesn't match the listed input voltage on the side. Does that matter?
Also, I took a look at the plug I had been using and the fuse in it was a 3A fuse. Both power supplies list higher Input currents. I Then looked at the plug I had been using for my monitor and that had a 5A fuse. Both plugs listed a 250V output - AFAIK our main's power varies between 230V & 250V.

Am I doing things wrong? Need I be be worrying?
They should work just fine on anything between 220V to 250V, as for the fuse I'd suggest using 5A for both, although they will probably draw less than 3A under normal operation.
You can always test them by shorting the power on pin to ground.
Okay I'll just carry on as I was. Thanks for the help. Been Sitting here in bits - didn't want to accidentally knacker something :P
