BURBANK & REDWOOD CITY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- The Walt Disney Company (NYSE: DIS) and Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: EA) today announced a new multi-year exclusive licensing agreement to develop and publish globally new games based on Star Wars characters and storylines. Under the agreement, EA will develop and publish new Star Wars titles for a core gaming audience, spanning all interactive platforms and the most popular game genres, while Disney will retain certain rights to develop new titles within the mobile, social, tablet and online game categories. “This agreement demonstrates our commitment to creating quality game experiences that drive the popularity of the Star Wars franchise for years to come,” said John Pleasants, Co-President of Disney Interactive. “Collaborating with one of the world’s premier game developers will allow us to bring an amazing portfolio of new Star Wars titles to our fans around the world.” “Every developer dreams of creating games for the Star Wars universe,” said EA Labels President Frank Gibeau. “Three of our top studios will fulfill that dream, crafting epic adventures for Star Wars fans. DICE and Visceral will produce new games, joining the BioWare team which continues to develop for the Star Wars franchise. The new experiences we create may borrow from films, but the games will be entirely original with all new stories and gameplay.” Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
http://ea.newshq.businesswire.com/press-release/company-news/walt-disney-company-and-ea-announce-multi-year-star-wars-games-agreement
Bioware making Star Wars games
fuck off, you had your chance with TOR and blew it
I don't know what to think, if DICE gets the rights to what was left over of battlefront 3 they could really flip their reputation around. OF COURSE THAT AINT GONNA FUCKIN HAPPEN SO BRING ON STAR WARS KINECT 2
Republic Commando 2 on the Frostbite engine? mmmmm
RIP Star Wars games, 100%. If only DICE will make Battlefront III or SWRC2
You tell Bioware NO! Like a dog that pissed on your carpet. NO
fuck off, you had your chance with TOR and blew it
They made good starwars games as well. Bioware should avoid mutiplayer based games.
Only good thing I can think of with this is DICE could do something cool with Battlefront.
fuck off, you had your chance with TOR and blew it
Maybe we'll get lucky and get another Star Wars game on the level of KOTOR with the production levels of Mass Effect. A man can dream.
“Every developer dreams of creating games for the Star Wars universe,” said EA Labels President Frank Gibeau.
It's like I'm already reading the parody remix.
fuck off, you had your chance with TOR and blew it
I guess everyone just forgot about KOTOR.
fuck off, you had your chance with TOR and blew it
Bioware also made KOTOR, so their track record with Star Wars is 1/2.
They made good starwars games as well. Bioware should avoid mutiplayer based games.
KOTOR was great but they're not the same studio that made that

I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if they gave DICE the rights to Battlefront.
Bioware also made KOTOR, so their track record with Star Wars is 1/2.
KOTOR was years ago though. They've really changed since then.
EA and Disney join forces.
Actually I could totally see Bioware doing something good with Star Wars again, assuming Bioware's best is on the team and they take their fucking time with it.
If another Kotor was to be made to continue off the second then it should be Obsidian who makes it.
KOTOR was years ago though. They've really changed since then.
Doesn't mean they're not capable of making a good Star Wars game again.
I would love a Star Wars game, even if it had exactly the same mechanics as ME3, but with SW setting. Also spacebattles.
Lens flare and color filter, i see it now.
I have no faith in DICE making a good Star Wars game. [editline]6th May 2013[/editline] or Bioware.
Something tells me Visceral will be working on 1313, which doesn't sound like a good thing to me.
Doesn't mean they're not capable of making a good Star Wars game again.
But they haven't made anything actually good since ME2.
But they haven't made anything actually good since ME2.
I know I'm in the minority on this, but I still think Mass Effect 3 was a good game even with its glaring faults.
Here comes even more high profile disasters. Well, it would be good for a laugh, I suppose.
But they haven't made anything actually good since ME2.
That's a matter of opinion. Despite the terrible ending ME3 was a great title for the most part, and the multiplayer was a nice surprise, SWTOR may have a rocky history but the game has been very much successful since it hit F2P, and most importantly they are listening to the community.
luke skywalker and han solo gay romance cutscene filled with moans and sounds from Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford
I know I'm in the minority on this, but I still think Mass Effect 3 was a good game even with its glaring faults.
Yeah but it was barely an RPG, they just kept dumbing it down as the series went on, ME2 was permissible though due to a generally good mix RPG and shooting elements (if a bit lacking)
Actually I could totally see Bioware doing something good with Star Wars again, assuming Bioware's best is on the team and they take their fucking time with it.
i remember seeing a credits comparison of mass effect 1 and 3 and like over half the original team was gone
