• DVD Drive Detected, CD/DVD Not

I just got my DVD drive problem fixed by switching the dvd drive from slave to master but now it won't even recognize a disc. Don't tell me it's a bad DVD drive because it was working yesterday. I have tried deleting the upper and lower filters in the registry and that has done nothing. I've uninstalled, rebooted, and reinstalled the drive. I just don't know what to do anymore. [editline]12:48PM[/editline] Update: It reads CDs but not DVDs.
Checked the IDE cable? Make sure its an 80-pin one not a 40-pin one. Checked your BIOS knows it's on the right channel since you've moved it? It might be set up to manual rather than Auto.
Update: It reads CDs but not DVDs.
Sounds like the drive is dead.
Don't tell me it's a bad DVD drive because it was working yesterday.
Okay then. Unicorns have infested your PC case and are intercepting the data from DVDs because it tastes better than CD data. There is nothing you can do, but newer drives have a unicorn-proof seal on them.

Another update: I put a DVD in and told the dvd drive to open that dvd and it was taking forever. I come back an hour later and the dvd drive just recognized the disc and the main folders of the dvd. I think it might be the lense.
