Probably doing my math wrong because I suck at it, but that's about $12 million dollars, isn't it? ($40((Canadian))x3,000,000) For a $0 budget, that's a pretty damn good income

Good to see that both DayZ and ArmA are doing well. The more the studio grows the more the better their production standards become.
I watch a lot of Twitch when I'm bored and/or drinking, and DayZ is always in the top 5 games being streamed. While I've yet to give it a go, it's definitely got a huge demographic.

It was sold for $29.99 for quite a while, so let's just assume it's a $35 average. We then take away Valve's 30% cut from this price, because it's not income going toward the developers. Finish things off by multiplying your answer by the number of sales, 2,900,000. You get: A = (35 - (35 * 0.30))(2900000) A = $73,500,000 USD
I remember the original mod really taking off after kilroy uploaded his videos. That was the start of the really big popularity boom.
Well it definitely wasn't the devs
It got me into Arma so I'm happy. The game itself is imo also amazing but due to its wonkyness and a few bad design decisions very unappealing to a lot of people. Like the whole walking simulator aspect of it, or the awfully stiff engine.
It sure wasn't remotely frequent bug fixes or content patches.
