• Trump Aides, Seeking Leverage, Investigate Mueller’s Investigators
WASHINGTON — President Trump’s lawyers and aides are scouring the professional and political backgrounds of investigators hired by the special counsel Robert S. Mueller III, looking for conflicts of interest they could use to discredit the investigation — or even build a case to fire Mr. Mueller or get some members of his team recused, according to three people with knowledge of the research effort. The search for potential conflicts is wide-ranging. It includes scrutinizing donations to Democratic candidates, investigators’ past clients and Mr. Mueller’s relationship with James B. Comey, whose firing as F.B.I. director is part of the special counsel’s investigation. The effort to investigate the investigators is another sign of a looming showdown between Mr. Trump and Mr. Mueller, who has assembled a team of high-powered prosecutors and agents to examine whether any of Mr. Trump’s advisers aided Russia’s campaign to disrupt last year’s presidential election. Some of the investigators have vast experience prosecuting financial malfeasance, and the prospect that Mr. Mueller’s inquiry could evolve into an expansive examination of Mr. Trump’s financial history has stoked fears among the president’s aides. Both Mr. Trump and his aides have said publicly they are watching closely to ensure Mr. Mueller’s investigation remains narrowly focused on last year’s election. During an interview with The New York Times on Wednesday, Mr. Trump said he was aware that members of Mr. Mueller’s team had potential conflicts of interest and would make the information available “at some point.” Mr. Trump also said Mr. Mueller would be going outside his mandate if he begins investigating matters unrelated to Russia, like the president’s personal finances. Mr. Trump repeatedly declined to say what he might do if Mr. Mueller appeared to exceed that mandate. But his comments to The Times represented a clear message to Mr. Mueller. “The president’s making clear that the special counsel should not move outside the scope of the investigation,” Sarah Huckabee Sanders, a White House spokeswoman, said during a news briefing on Thursday. Joshua Stueve, a spokesman for the special counsel, declined to comment.
https://www.nytimes.com/2017/07/20/us/politics/donald-trump-robert-mueller-russia-investigation.html?smprod=nytcore-iphone&smid=nytcore-iphone-share Edit: Neo Saturday Night Massacre everyone.
Expose the opposition before they can expose you. Classic. I think he's following the Democrats' slogan of, "Have you seen the other guys??"
This is definitely the action of an innocent person.
This is a witch hunt, tweets increasingly nervous man
I can't say Trump is guilty of anything yet, I'm no lawyer after all but he acts like he's panicking lmao
Look, all he wants to know is the full extent of his pardon powers. I'm sure that it has zero relevance to current events and is $100% simple curiosity.
I can't say Trump is guilty of anything yet, I'm no lawyer after all but he acts like he's panicking lmao
But y'see he's just protectin' himself against them damn lyin' liberals!
I can't say Trump is guilty of anything yet, I'm no lawyer after all but he acts like he's panicking lmao
Of course he's panicking. He thought he'd get into the White House, get some bills passed, and everyone would love him in the end. Now he's discovered that a much smaller percentage of the country likes him than he thought and he's under investigation for some serious shit, and he's powerless to stop it. You can't just "settle out of court" for stuff like this.
Desperately seeking to learn the full extent of his power to pardon as the Meuller investigation picks up steam, huh? Well, that can't possibly be indicative of anything. If Donald Trump attempts to exercise his power of pardon to excuse himself, his family, and his advisers of criminal penalty for the treason that they have committed against the people of the United States, then the only path forward for this country is to immediately remove them from power via any means necessary. Pray that the courts immediately and irrevocably rule that such a wild abuse of power is unquestionably disallowed, that Congress immediately move to impeach, and that Trump and his people are immediately taken from the White House in handcuffs, else I would not be surprised in the slightest to see civil unrest, even bordering on insurrection, on an unprecedented scale.
else I would not be surprised in the slightest to see civil unrest, even bordering on insurrection, on an unprecedented scale.
I goddamn hope it doesn't come to that, but I'd lose all faith in the American people if that's not how they respond.
I goddamn hope it doesn't come to that, but I'd lose all faith in the American people if that's not how they respond.
That's wildly discounting how many american civilians would side with a pro-Trump counter-revolution but anyone who would chose to go down that path would hopefully not be missed.
But who will investigate the investigation???
Can't wait to see the first president to be led out of the white house in handcuffs
If this ends in any other way than trump and his whole team getting forcefully removed from power in cuffs and being dragged through the dirt for everything they've done, I'm going to scream. I'm so sick of this pompous fuck and his gross cronies getting away with whatever the hell they want. Fuck em.

Fire him I dare you Bonus points: try to pardon yourself and watch how fast congress votes to remove you from office
I goddamn hope it doesn't come to that, but I'd lose all faith in the American people if that's not how they respond.
There would definitely be at least some people who would be willing to respond. You can't have this much justifiable anger, frustration, hatred, fear, etc. that millions of Americans feel against this man and his administration... and not expect at least some of them respond in the event that he's not impeached and removed from office-- especially when he's trying to become an actual dictator who suppresses and tarnishes his enemies (like what's going on here with him targeting Mueller). Our government knows it. They're smart enough to see how tired people are of this shit, and they know that something's got to give sooner or later. You can't have this much discontent and expect things to go on like normal forever. The real question is what would you do? How would you respond? Personally, I have no doubt that he'll be impeached. This sort of behavior against Mueller and investigators reeks of desperation, and even the Republicans are getting tired of dealing with him.
Fire him I dare you Bonus points: try to pardon yourself and watch how fast congress votes to remove you from office
Chances are they might try to find an excuse to not impeach and convict. Although it seems the GOP is getting tired of it. In fact, one of their donors called him an abortion of a human being
“It is demoralizing to me to see adults worshipping a false idol. I can’t continue to write checks for anyone,” he said. “I know what it’s like to lose a country.” He called Trump an “abortion of a human being,” and hammered the New York developer in the harshest terms possible. “If I was the doctor and knew what that baby would do, I’d have made sure it never would have seen the light of day,” he said of the president.
Let me be clear, the one thing I would like to see happen before New Years would be to see President Mattis in the White House after Trump and his cronies are escorted out in handcuffs. (hell, it doesn't have to be Mattis as president, just someone sane and not batshit crazy).
but who's going to investigate the investigator investigating investigators now
