To be fair, EA is on the extreme end of this kind of bullshit.

Basically.
Visceral was making a new deadspace game and EA oversight had them shoehorn in multiplayer modes and make it a GoW clone instead of a horror game.
Visceral made a cool cops&robbers game type game, then EA took it and rebranded it as a battlefield game and had a multiplayer mode shoehorned in.
Then EA shitcanned them because they don't make money because they make terrible games because of their own meddling.

The most shameful thing about it all is that this same exact fucking thing has happened to so many developers under EA

Random re-branding isn't anything new. Sometimes it works out in their favor though. Of course, I can't think of a good re-branding in the last few years that didn't fuck a game over. Really, C&C Generals is the only game I can think of where a relabel helped sales (the game was originally just going to be called Generals, no C&C in the name).
IN addition to tacked on multiplayer, forced re-branding, and committee saying what needs to be added to the game, they also set unrealistic expectations and deadlines.
