why is the windows 10 version a thing [editline]24th September 2015[/editline] they made a mobile port of a pc game and then a pc port of that mobile game.
It runs a million times better than the cobbled together java original

As they said in the article, it's planned for "feature parity", and in the end it should allow them to do much more with it such as the planned VR support.
why is the windows 10 version a thing [editline]24th September 2015[/editline] they made a mobile port of a pc game and then a pc port of that mobile game.
More stable version, integration with the Xbox version, a version that they have more control over since its their store, a version thats a lot easier to manage and update due to its difference in coding, a version that integrates with said mobile version why hasn't this version come sooner, tbh. Having more "stuff" is the only plus side the original version had. It's trash, otherwise. When the 10 version catches up more, people should be abandoning the java version
I would only imagine that the modding support that the original had was mangled garbage code on top of mangled garbage code updates to mangled garbage code. While I love Garry Newman, I would imagine that Garry's Mod 13 was an attempt to clean up a lot of mangled garbage code, and some might argue that Garry's Mod 13 is, in itself, better code on top of Source - old and therefore mangled garbage code. At some point, we've gotta start over!
I've been messing around with the Win 10 Minecraft Beta. It certainly lacks a few things, such as texture packs, but it runs insanely better than the java version. I can ramp it to the highest draw distance and my computer doesn't even flinch! If I try that with the java version it chews up so much memory and takes forever to attempt to load the world. Also, the Win 10 version also supports proper infinite maps unlike the hard limit the java version does. Once it gets in line with the java version, it'll be hard for me to justify playing the old java one.
This actually sounds amazing. The big thing that sparked my imagination about Oculus was watching someone play Fallout New Vegas and realizing that it gave you something games never have had visually, depth perception. That mountain that you wouldn't even notice in New Vegas now looked huge because you could see it properly now. So imagine how the big ass ravines will look in Minecraft, and giant mountains, and wandering around in the giant fuckhuge constructions imagine walking around in this fucking thing but with depth or even just imagine how much more personal our own shitty block homes will feel when they actually have depth to them and have that extra layer of reality shit's going to be rad
what does the win 10 version use as an engine? because minecraft on java is a giant mess and its awful. I can't use above 16 chunks on a high end machine with 16gb ram without it messing up royally. [editline]26th September 2015[/editline] maybe I need 64gb ram to render 16 chunks properly?
