Seeing these new "meetup" threads going around, hint hint to a moderator, Garry, etc..
Subsections for meetups, people posting in ones such as "south west" "north east" etc would become recognized in that region of the UK.
Surely that'd be a bit easier?

no because either it would just be a meetup like every other weekend or alternatively whenever someone was trying to organise a meetup no one would hear about it because it's in some little sub-forum. What I propose is we have set(ish) dates where we have an annual meetup for each area, and have a limit of one per-year per-area.

or we just accept that occasionally there will be a meetup fad and live with it
Agreeing with Negrul1, keep meetups an uncommon speciality.
A meetup section would make FP look like a dating site or something.
Added to the above points, it wouldn't be fair to make the sub-sections just for UK.
Meetup threads will get the most interest in GD
No
that's a terrible idea.
Every time there's a thread fad someone says we need a subforum for it. It's sad that you can't cope with there being a few more of a certain kind of the thread than usual.
