From director Pete Travis Written by Pete Garland, writer of 28 Days Later The future America is an irradiated waste land. On its East Coast, running from Boston to Washington DC, lies Mega City One- a vast, violent metropolis where criminals rule the chaotic streets. The only force of order lies with the urban cops called “Judges” who possess the combined powers of judge, jury and instant executioner. Known and feared throughout the city, Dredd (Karl Urban) is the ultimate Judge, challenged with ridding the city of its latest scourge – a dangerous drug epidemic that has users of “Slo-Mo” experiencing reality at a fraction of its normal speed. During a routine day on the job, Dredd is assigned to train and evaluate Cassandra Anderson (Olivia Thirlby), a rookie with powerful psychic abilities thanks to a genetic mutation. A heinous crime calls them to a neighborhood where fellow Judges rarely dare to venture- a 200 story vertical slum controlled by prostitute turned drug lord Ma-Ma (Lena Headey) and her ruthless clan. When they capture one of the clan’s inner circle, Ma-Ma overtakes the compound’s control center and wages a dirty, vicious war against the Judges that proves she will stop at nothing to protect her empire. With the body count climbing and no way out, Dredd and Anderson must confront the odds and engage in the relentless battle for their survival.

Cast Karl Urban as Judge Dredd Olivia Thirlby as Judge Anderson Lena Headey as Madeline Madrigal (AKA "Ma-Ma") Jason Cope Domhnall Gleeson as Travis Synders Langley Kirkwood as Judge Lex Francis Chouler as Judge Guthrie Deobia Oparei as Judge T.J. I personally think that this looks awesome, but I think that someone other than Karl Urban should have been chosen for Dredd. Unless he pulls it off really well.
Sounds like something Cersei would do.
I swear, if this isn't in the movie, I will go to my time-out corner in a very bad mood.
That looks dreddful.
I usually hate remakes (if it even is a remake), but i don't really care here, since the Sylvester Stallone one sucked so hard

Karl Urban is a good actor but I'm kinda disappointed they chose him for Dredd, but we'll see. I'll definitely see this.
This looks okay. At least in this movie Judge Dredd will keep his helmet on from the looks of it.
The soundrack was a straight up combination of Tron Legacy and Inception's themes
Anyone notice that at the end of the trailer we literally see Dredd [sp]pushing the bad guy out a window.[/sp] Yeah that's a nice little touch...Just spoil the ending and everything.

I wouldn't be surprised. Most trailers have literally the ending in them now. Like, remember quarantine? [editline]27th June 2012[/editline] Its entire marketing was the last ten seconds of the film.

Well to be fair it wasn't going to be a big twist. I really hope it's just a trailer made to appeal to a big audience a la Drive, and the movie is actually a satire, rather than the straight dumbed down, summer action movie with the Judge Dredd logo slapped on it, as people on SA pointed out.
This has been getting very positive reactions at Comic Con.
Yeah just checked out the reviews on Rotton Tomatoes. Goddamn, this is a bit of a surprise.
Empire review: http://www.empireonline.com/reviews/reviewcomplete.asp?FID=136963
There was much to dread about this new iteration of Dredd, but it’s a solid, occasionally excellent take on the character, with Urban’s chin particularly impressive.
Right, now I wanna see this.
THE LAAW- oh wait someone posted it already
Unlike the previous Judge Dredd movie, Karl Urban has confirmed that the helmet will never come off to keep true to the comic book character.

This was one of the first things they said about this as soon as Karl Urban got attached to the project. I'm surprised it's not widely known yet.

Even when he sleeps and showers?
Watch recycled films. Good for the environment. Okay for you.
Even when he sleeps and showers?
If the movie was about Dredd sleeping and showering I don't think it'd be a very good action movie
He is the law, even when he sleeps.

This looks completely devoid of any of the satirical elements of the comics which is a fucking shame since the comics were(and still are) quite heavy on satire. That said, Judge Dredd destroys. I'll take a good-to-great Judge Dredd movie over a good-to-great Batman or Spider-Man movie any day of the week. http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/dredd_3d/ Sounds like some good shit.
Very interesting, but then again they are all people who saw it at the comic con screening, so they're probably more likely to enjoy it. Just wait to see what the old reviewers who miss the classics think of it. The youtube clips look pretty promising though.
I'm excited for the movie but I wanted a little bit more than just being stuck in a giant set of apartments. It reminds me of The Raid way too much.
