Constitutionalist Rand Paul ignores the Constitution; belittles Supreme Court decision
Sen. Rand Paul doesn’t think the Supreme Court gets the last word on what’s constitutional.
The Kentucky Republican belittled the high court’s health care decision as the flawed opinion of just a “couple people.”
“Just because a couple people on the Supreme Court declare something to be ‘constitutional’ does not make it so. The whole thing remains unconstitutional,” the freshman lawmaker said in a statement.
“While the court may have erroneously come to the conclusion that the law is allowable, it certainly does nothing to make this mandate or government takeover of our health care right.”
“Obamacare is wrong for Americans. It will destroy our health care system,” added Paul, who frequently rails about government overreach on the Senate floor.
“This now means we fight every hour, every day until November to elect a new President and a new Senate to repeal Obamacare.”
The Constitution of the United States of America is an important, immutable cornerstone of America and should be followed to the letter
until the system does something I don't like then to hell with it -- Rand Paul
It is constitutional as a tax, end of story. Man up Rand.
yes affordable healthcare is definitely bad for Americans

This is so dumb.
I don't know why this idiot would ever want to be in the government if he doesn't like it working as intended.
Welcome to American Politics; where the Constitution is only valid when it fits your opinion, and can fuck off otherwise
He acts as if our healthcare is in pristine condition.

I'm glad his priorities are in order.
yes affordable healthcare is definitely bad for Americans
Yeah, lets all hand out our health to a multi-billion dollar industry. Yeah, that's the right way to go. Nobody deserves affordable healthcare
He has bit of a valid point, the affordable care act couldn't even pass under the notorious commerce clause. Instead they had to construe the whole thing as tax just to pass it. I'm not against the bill, but his complaint seems kind of valid to me. Obama never described the penalties in the bill as a tax, so you have to see why some people would raise their eyebrows when it's constitutionality is upheld as a tax.
fucks sake fp, be a little bit more objective. Would everyone who posted also think the Patriot Act is completely constitutional as well? This shouldn't be about whether or not the bill is right or wrong for the country but whether or not if it should have been able to pass the way it did.
A better option would have been universal healthcare but the Paul's would also hate that
Holy fuck. I've had Rand Paul mixed up with Ru Paul for the last 2 days
Would everyone who posted also think the Patriot Act is completely constitutional as well?
The Affordable Care Act is not comparable to the Patriot Act, stop trying to create a false dichotomy by picking out two roughly partisan acts.
Constitution is unconstitutional, sue America
Just because a Senator from Kentucky that hates taxes and social medicine declares such things "unconstitutional" doesn't mean it is.
HOWS IT FUCKING FEEL RAND THROWN BACK IN YOUR FACE
We gotta let everything fix itself organically let's get rid of the antitrust act and the fda while we're at it!
"It's only constitutional if I say so. Waaaa!"
Rand sounds crazier than his dad. I didn't think that was possible.

He is much worse than Ron Paul, and is only popular because of the Tea Party.
I do think the decision, like any supreme court decision on constitutionality, is important in showing how useless the document is. It ought to be quite clear that when so many decisions on these matters are such close decisions, that nobody really knows the limits of governmental power. It would be nice if these people who are all into the constitution realized that it is an old document that politicians only care about when it supports their case, and that any argument about constitutionality is an argument of opinion.
He's a libertarian, he'll only be happy if everything in America is run by loveable corporations who will look after you because they're so well known for kindness.

Or Somalia.

No I'm pretty sure that's exactly what it does
