What are your windows?
What are your windows?
as in version? Win7.
Do you have a white stick that looks like this | and it keeps appearing and disappearing in the left or right upper corner of the screen?
Do you have a white stick that looks like this | and it keeps appearing and disappearing in the left or right upper corner of the screen?
Nope. The monitor doesn't even turn on. Nor does the keyboard/mouse. :c
Well, I can't help you with that, nothing I can do. Let's hope the pros step in.
Thanks anyway, and yeah. lets hope D:. [editline]11:44AM[/editline] I'm worried either my motherboard or video card has failed. just thought i'd throw that in. [editline]12:08PM[/editline] Nevermind. problem solved. Reset the cmos and everything works fine now. -_-
Does it post? Like give a beep that everything is ok? You can also try: -Clearing your Cmos by removing the battery. -Taking all your ram sticks out but one and try booting like that (switch them out if it doesnt work). -remove your gpu and switch to the onboard GPU (if you have one). Also complete specs please.
Since nothing appears on the monitor, but the rest of the PC seems to boot, I'd say it's the GPU being the problem here.
Since nothing appears on the monitor, but the rest of the PC seems to boot, I'd say it's the GPU being the problem here.
Mouse and keyboard also dont work.
Did you remove all your stuff plugged into your usb ports? My webcam and my sandisk reader stop my OS from booting up, it just stays on HP screen.
This might also be a PSU problem. They tend to break so that they stop outputting only one or two voltage (like 12v for example) this causes half the computer to get any kind of power. Try removing the GPU and going with the onboard one. If it still doesn't work there's a good chance it's the PSU...
I have a similiar problem. I start up my computer, and it seems to start up normal, until it should start windows (7 x64). Then there's just a blinking _ in the top left of my screen. Windows was installed yesterday, what can it be? (I saw this thread so i didn't bother making one) [editline]05:17PM[/editline] Using my mom's horribly slow laptop atm
Its trying to boot of something that isnt there. Remove any memory sticks ect. If the problem is still there you should press f10 or f8 while starting up and sellect your HDD as boot drive.
ok, testing [editline]05:31PM[/editline] I changed, and nothing happened.
Then your hdd is probably broken. You can test this by booting from another location. This can be done if you have the original windows cd or like this: Linux bootable pendrive. http://www.pendrivelinux.com/put-lubuntu-on-a-flash-drive-using-windows/
It boots from the windows disc, but it doesn't boot from my linux mint disc :saddowns:
bump? Is it my hdd?
bamp, i'd really like to know
I have now bumped 3 times, can't someone help me?
The motherboard should make some beeps when your computer starts up: http://www.computerhope.com/beep.htm See if there's an issue.
My mobo just sits there, looking all smug and shutting the fuck up :argh:

Remove all PCI cards, and printers n stuff. Plug monitor directly into mobo. If this doesn't work, try your monitor on another computer.

Remove all RAM modules, does your PC not beep? your Mobo or CPU is broken.
