So I've been taking this medication for a month. It's the first scheduled prescription drug I've ever used.
Isotretinoin is used to treat severe recalcitrant nodular acne (a certain type of severe acne) that has not been helped by other treatments, such as antibiotics. Isotretinoin is in a class of medications called retinoids. It works by slowing the production of certain natural substances that can cause pimples to form.
I'm using Accutane, and I'm currently displeased with the results. The first side effect I've run into was chapped lips. Very discomfortable and the feeling of chapstick on my lips is so awkward. Another side effect of Isotrentinoin is back pain, and ever since I vacuumed my house one day I've had annoying lower back pain (lol, I know) that has become even worse with band camp. I've also had super dry skin, that would peel even with little to no sun exposure. Even when I'm sweaty, I can still rub off dead skin off my shoulders; super nasty. My nose is very dry as well, and I've got bloody bats stuck around in there; also super nasty.
The brand also indicates that worse acne at the beginning of the treatment is normal. I'm about a month through and my acne hasn't been reduced at all. But I'm thankful I haven't gotten side effects like dry eyes or suidical thoughts, which would be the worse for me.
So DD, have any of you been on Isotrentinoin? I'd like to hear about how your treatment was.
And I know DD is more commonly used for recreational drugs, but this fits anyway!
Durrr... I dont know about this Isotretinoin thing but I hear they call cannabis a universal drug so maybe it will cure ur acne durrr. lol idk
And that's the most helpful answer you'll get :smug:

Wow! When was I a dick?
About when you said that was the only answer we would give

That's like calling me a dick for saying your house is on fire.
That analogy makes no sense. And it would be a dick move, because my house isn't on fire and you tried to get me to think it was
It would make sense if he said, That's like calling me a dick for saying your burning house is on fire.
Atleast I think it would.
I though Accutane was found to cause digestive problems or something. I saw some thing where if blah blah blah happens call this number and you can get millions from a lawsuit
I took it awhile ago for mild acne, had the back problems too but they went away after finishing the prescription. The first month was just really dry, no affect on the acne in fact it just got annoyingly itchy.. Around the second it started to clear and on the third I had no spots left. The worst part was waking up with a bleeding nose every second day not knowing what was going on, and that unless you load up on Tylenol you won't be able to get much exercise due to sore joints. In the end it was absolutely worth it, just make sure you take it for the full 5-6 months or else it'll come back even though it looks cleared up.
Best medication ever cure skin troubles in return for sucidial thoughts, dry eyes and back pain.
suidical thoughts
haha treating cosmetic problems with pills that can cause suicidal thoughts. exactly why are you still taking this if there has been no improvement?

It does take a bit of time for the medication to start to work effectively. Also, some acne can be so severe that it leaves permanent scarring. It happened to my friend. Its really unfortunate.
Isn't that only if you pick at them?
