I was half-expecting them to just copy&paste the Übercharge concept and be done with it
That new ult is kinda lazy
I'm pretty happy that mercy can't just deny the effect of team wipes now.
Mercy now has a new ult: Valkyrie, a 20-second ability that enhances all of Mercy abilities.
i mean, its like she ubers herself

I thought this was a reason you pick mercy: to reverse team wipes.
Most of the time, in my experience, you had to be careful about activating your alt. Deciding whether or not rezing two people would provide any advantage or wait till more people are down, but now you can just press e and be done with it. Yeah, it's only one person and a 30 second cooldown, but to me this seems like it's dumbing mercy down. Now if there are two/three/four people down, you'll be forced to choose who to revive, and that might lead to conflict in the team. The new alt isn't great either.
Of course, team wipes will be much more effective now, but personally I think it took away an experience I enjoyed and a reason why I pick mercy in the first place.

Old Resurrection was terrible design, it encouraged a strange and hindering playstyle where the mercy hides and waits for her team to wipe so she can press Q and instantly erase anything the enemy team did.
Now, she Resurrects a single person on a 30 second cooldown, and instantly another person with her ult, on top of a whole bunch of new things.
This is absolutely not dumbing Mercy down, it's making her a lot more interesting and fun to play.

I'd rather think you're more encouraged to heal your teammates rather than hide just for an alt, no? You can still charge your alt when you're healing others, so I don't get why you would hide. I'm not sure I understand the playstyle you're referring to, since that never came across me when I played her, nor did I see that with mercy's I've played with.

With the Old Rez, Mercy would heal until it was ready. Then, instead of continued healing, she would then hide so her team can get picked off by enemies (usually instantly wiped out by well-placed ult combos) in an enclosed area so she can jump in and get the most revives in one ult. To make the most use of her ultimate, she'd have to stop doing anything.
If she doesn't hide, she can risk being killed and wouldn't be able to use her ultimate at all. Which is why many people prefer Lucio and Zen's ults, which are about prevention.
Also, if you're healing teammates, they can survive and you'd never have a proper opportunity to ult.
This new ult kinda kills any use of Orisas ult

I see what you're saying, but it's kinda iffy.
This would have you depend on the other team's ability to wipe out your own team, which isn't a good idea since you're not doing your main job which healing others. Yes, healing teammates enables the danger of dying, and it seems like it would be a good idea to hide and wait, but then your teammates might die one at a time rather than a team wipe. You wasted time hiding rather than healing your team. Again, it's a case by case basis, but hiding isn't a great strategy I feel.
Honestly as someone who mainly plays quick play, Mercy's rez is practically useless, especially if you get saddled with a less than stellar team. At least with this ultimate ability you have more capability of keeping at least yourself + two other players active while capturing a point or escorting

You'd be right, but with communication in mid-to-higher-level play, you can get your team to group up to avoid being picked off and to be in one radius for Rez. When the enemy eventually becomes forced to be aggressive to take the objective, like on a time limit, they'd have no choice but to quickly kill everyone at once, and then the Mercy jumps in and brings them right back no matter what, unless she gets picked off.

Well, Orisa and Mercy are still completely different characters. Who's also to say you can't just stack the damage boosts together?

You've never been able to stack those damage boosts before, I doubt they've changed that.
That's kinda cool. Now she's not so much of a "kill this bitch immediately" and you have to be more strategic with your Rez rather than smash q when 2+ death nearby
what? this new ult is far more active and far stronger than what she used to have
Lazy doesn't mean weak
They're saying it's not very creative or innovative/unique
Thank fuck. It was so frustrating to pull off a sweet team fight only for the enemy mercy hiding in the back to go "lol no" and res everyone.

They do stack. It was a bug that they didn't before.

Except this is currently the dominant Mercy strategy. It's extremely effective and extremely frustrating for the other team.
Oh man the new skill ceiling is so immense.
The new mercy is so fun to play (also rocks having one on your team).
Any idea when those things land in the main game?
