Hey guys.
I made an incomplete game.
But When I gave it to my friends, they say it's giving an error on execution. They're using Windows 10.
The game is about creating a file city from contents in your HDD.
I intended to enable you to interact with actual folder and files in the game world.
But currently you can play music files.
Please try it, and see if it gave you any problem.
Note: Please temporarily disable your antivirus and firewall (because of the nature of the game which explores the files).
Also need DirectX9 :v:
HOW TO PLAY:
Open the 'directory.txt' file in the zip file, and change the directory to the folder that you want to explore.
(try to set it in your music folder)
Control:
Can be controlled wholly using a single mouse.
Left click to walk,
LEft + right click to fast-walk.
Left click to access files.
Mouse scroll to choose in menu
Double right click to free mouse and show all visible file names
WASD to move. SPACE key to run. ESC to free mouse.

The game should look like this:
Really cool concept.
But the "porn" district of the city is going to be peoples' largest part of the city. :v:
Fear not. I shall employ digital dragons to guard those district.
And 10 layered sliding collision walls.
Did you get it running. Can the character walk?
The game is running for me but I can't walk.
I think i can fix that.
I'll post the fixed version after I got back from work.
Is there anybody who can start the game?
Can confirm, game starts, cant move though.
Ok guys here's the fixed version. You should be able to walk now (I think)
The cause of most of us unable to walk is because somehow, sometimes, after collision is started, the foot was positioned slightly above the intended position, and acceleration cannot kick in. The walking animation was coded in, not animated, so these things can bug it out.
Forgot to mention: Press both WASD+SPACEBAR or right+left mouse to fastwalk, which will enable you to jump automatically to ontop of 'tall' folders.
The spacing of the 'building' is not really calculated according to the total size of HDD yet, so it's constantly spaced that far for now. I will come out with something later.
And, some file names might be unreadable, like Japanese song name/letters, so the game would not execute them.
Please try this version, see if everything is ok

Ok, I'm only able to move around when fast walking. I wasn't able to open up any pictures though. Haven't tried music. Not sure what all I can open.

It can play music files, as long as the name doesnt contain unicode characters, japanese letters or something.
I didnt let it play other kind of files yet.
Strange that everybody had different degree of that walking problem.
After fast-walking on the ground, can you walk normally?
Nope, can only fast walk.

Ok. Can you doubleclick right mouse, and free the mouse? It should show up some variables on the left side of the screen.
Can you tell me the value of a variable named 'acc#' while you're trying to walk?
Another fixed version:

This one should put the folders closer together (depending on total size of your directory).

It constantly flashes 0.0384000018239 while standing still, trying to walk, and running.
[editline]16th March 2016[/editline]
However with the updated version, I am able to walk. acc# flashes 0.0403200015426
Awesome. I cant believe you had the patience to try it repeatedly till now lol
And everybody can run it. No error or anything.
I'll post again if I add something new.
