Thank fucking god, maybe the world won't seem so empty now.
I remember them talking about this a while ago, it basically loads a bunch of stand-in models until it finally manages to load the real one. I didn't think to check for any options regarding it after the patch but I do remember a similar option being added that changed whether enemy players showed their normal dye colors, enemies showed their team color (default), or EVERYBODY including yourself show team color, which I guess might be nice to help see a bit better during huge gatecrash parties. I keep enemy player names checked for always on, so I just see a sea of red names. Hoping that they make it so dead/downed enemies don't show the same red as live ones
Oooh, personal advancement for WvW too. Sounds good.

Who the fuck thought that this culling thing was a good idea in the first place?

people whose computer bogged down all to hell trying to load a zerg rush and died before they could react
it increases performance in a lot of areas elsewhere in the game, but loading playermodels is a noticeable lagchunker. Port yourself to the bank in lion's arch and try to turn your camera around 360 degrees, it'll likely have a shitfit for the first time you rotate around and prompt it to load content for the first times
