WHITE COUNTY, Ark. (KTHV)-- It was a gruesome discovery for a White County property owner on Sunday. Charles Pruett stumbled across human remains just outside Judsonia. Deputies are now trying to figure out who they belong to. There is very little traffic and few homes on Dripping Springs Rd. Pruett explains, "Not a lot of crime. People still probably leave their doors unlocked." Pruett has lived on the rural White County road for nearly 30 years. But his "safe" feeling all changed Sunday when he found a trash bag on his property. He says, "That's a horrible thing. Bless their heart whoever it was." Pruett first noticed the bag about two months ago but thought it was nothing. Pruett explains, "The smell was horrendous when the wind would blow just right. I lifted the bag, looked like there was two large trash bags, and lifted the bag and I could tell it didn't look like anything I'd ever seen." Detectives say it was a body, so badly decomposed they are unsure if it's a male or female. Cpl. Steve Hernandez says there are no active missing person's cases in the county. He says, "There is someone out there that is missing a family member. They may have reported them missing somewhere else and we are just now finding the body. So we need to give some family closure." The remains are now at the Arkansas State Crime Lab to determine a cause of death and hopefully make an identification. Meanwhile, Pruett says his quiet little road will never quite be the same. "It makes you a little nervous. Makes you want to get up a little quicker when the dogs bark at night." (AP) - Authorities say skeletal remains found recently in Cabot have been identified. Cpl. Steve Hernandez with the White County Sheriff's Office told the Daily Citizen that DNA tests confirmed the remains are those of 23-year-old Carissa Downey. Hernandez says Downey had been reported missing. A bag containing human remains was found March 20 on Dripping Springs Road. Hernandez says the sheriff's office is working with the Cabot Police Department on the case.
http://www.wxvt.com/Global/story.asp?S=14369157 I don't know how I should feel about this, an old friend I once knew, murdered and stuffed into a garbage bag, left to decompose in a field... I'm disgusted, terrified, shocked, how the fuck can anyone do this

What was this person like? Were they likely to get involved in criminal activity?
What was this person like? Were they likely to get involved in criminal activity?
She was one of three daughters, my parents and brother knew her well, we all did, she was not the kind to get into trouble with anyone, nor were any of the daughters. I had no idea she went missing in December until I was told today.
I'm sure Human Remains must have been disgusted to find that. How are you supposed to tell Arkansas's family? And Recently Identified To Be An Old Friend Of Mine's friends must have been mortified as well.
Hey man, that's life. It aint pretty but we just have to move on sometimes.
You're right it isn't pretty, it absolutely is not a pretty feeling to know that you know someone who was slaughtered and stuffed in to a garbage bag to rot in a field for four months.
My brother lives down in White County... I'll have to ask him about it.
My brother lives down in White County... I'll have to ask him about it.
Based on the description from the article, it sounds like a middle-of-nowhere kind of town. Is that really what it's like?
I wonder what the motive was
I had a relative who died in a similar fashion. I wont go into details but I know how you feel. There are some cruel disgusting minds in our world.
Sorry OP, I should use a hefty hefty hefty bag next time.
I kind of laughed but seriously man don't post that kind of shit
I hope they find the scumbag who did this, and send them to a work camp in North Korea. The death penalty just doesn't do justice here.
Sorry OP, I should use a hefty hefty hefty bag next time. (User was banned for this post ("Asshole" - JohnnyMo1))
It should've been you in that bag. Asshole
Based on the description from the article, it sounds like a middle-of-nowhere kind of town. Is that really what it's like?
Yes and no, there's a couple good size towns and a few other smaller ones surrounding them. The area is pretty well known for methamphetamine though. Not exactly surprised something like this would happen there.
I'm ashamed of my state every time something like this happens. I offer my condolences. This must be absolutely awful to go through.
Thats horrible. It sucks to find out one of your childhood friends is dead. Condolences from me and everyone on FP. I hope you are ok :)
I hope you didn't get to see the content of the bag. Knowing the news must have scarred you enough.
Here's the part I don't get:
Pruett first noticed the bag about two months ago but thought it was nothing. Pruett explains, "The smell was horrendous when the wind would blow just right
So random bags of trash occasionally turn up on your property and you think "It's nothing"? What, you just sort of let it be? At some point you expect the trash fairy to come and pick it up? Then the other part. So you have this thing, came from who knows where, and when the wind is 'just right' you get a whiff of something horrendous, horrendous enough for you to ignore it for two months? If I notice so much as a scrap of paper in my yard I deal with it then and there. If I smell something horrendous even ONCE, I find out what it is and get rid of it right then. WTF is wrong with this guy? Or is that just how life is out there?
