• Build Help - Looking to Spend £1000

I'm looking to spend £1000 for a new desktop computer I don't mind if its AMD or Intel, also i live in the UK. I will be using all Adobe programs - (Mainly Photoshop) I do render videos from time to time and play games such as bio shock and Mw2. I don't need an OS as i already have windows 7 ultimate 64 bit ready to install. The monitor I will use is my 1080p HD 24'' television which has a HDMI port and standard VGA port. Would love it if you could help me out on a build. Thanks :) Oh one last thing, I Already have a mouse & keyboard
Can anybody here help me?
I'll whip something up. If it doesn't you can get away with the i5-2500k and be ~50 pounds cheaper

It allows for SLI in the future. You'd need about 800watt for SLI with those specs so to be on the safe side.

The HAF series of cases is excellent too. You may want an asus motherboard or MSI one, seeing as you've got £1000.

Just out of curiosity, could i save money switching to AMD and use a different Motherboard?

Unless you could post me an alternative build? :)
Would using an ASUS motherboard or MSI give me any other benefits from using a Gigabyte though?
Maybe some of their Military grade components or OC Genie, but no noticeable performance difference.

ASUS has the fastest SATA read/write speed of any motherboards out today. [editline]1st July 2011[/editline] :ninja: [editline]1st July 2011[/editline] I don't think you should get a 212+ with a £1000 budget.

Yea, probably a NH-D14 or something. I couldn't find it on scan though.

Don't put your reply in the quote, it's confusing.
Sorry about that, i was wondering what you thought about this cooler instead: http://www.scan.co.uk/products/thermaltake-frio-cl-p0564-dual-120mm-fan-socket-775-1156-1366-am2-am3-cpu-cooler Also this for the SSD: http://www.scan.co.uk/products/s60gb-ocz-technology-vertex-2e-25-sandforce-ssd-mlc-flash-read-285mb-s-write-275mb-s

Frio is good. Vertez are decent too, but i've heard about a lot of problems with that. Get a Crucial drive if they have the 60gb version on Scan.

And this is the only Crucial drive that i could find for a decent price http://www.scan.co.uk/products/64gb-crucial-realssd-m4-25-sata-6gb-s-ssd-mlc-flash-read-415mb-s-write-95mb-s
for that price you might as well chuck an extra £5 in and get the agility 3 60GB which is a fair bit faster
for that price you might as well chuck an extra £5 in and get the agility 3 60GB which is a fair bit faster
Hmmm why is that? faster read and write speeds?
[editline]1st July 2011[/editline] Yes it's about 2x faster in both read and write.
My god!, well i may as well do that then, x2 faster for an extra 5 or 6 pounds o_0 [editline]1st July 2011[/editline] [editline]1st July 2011[/editline] well im guessing its pretty much set then? just to confirm i will be purchasing this within a week, is everything here compatible? also will i need any extra leeds/cables fans e.c.t?
I think you can put an extra 120mm fan in the 922? Not sure.
I think you can put an extra 120mm fan in the 922? Not sure.
200mm in the side panel [editline]2nd July 2011[/editline] or 2x 120
200mm in the side panel [editline]2nd July 2011[/editline] or 2x 120
Would you say it was necessary to have any extra fans?
Would you say it was necessary to have any extra fans?
They'd blow cool air on the GPU which is always nice.
