Currently I have
AMD Athlon 7750
3GB ram
an nvidia 7900 GT
(2 hard drives, 1 floppy and one dvd drive)
with a 400W Codegen PSU
going to replace the 7900 with a 5770
will I be okay with the same psu or not?
Straight from ATI's specs section about the card:
450 Watt or greater power supply with one 75W 6-pin PCI Express® power connectors recommended (600 Watt and two 6-pin connectors for ATI CrossFireX™ technology in dual mode)
I'd reccomend a new PSU. That's just my opinion though.
-snip.- Wrong thread.
Op you should be fine as long as the psu isn't a shit brand but I haven't heard of that brand.
I would get at least a 550W PSU. Or I would be always shitting my pants begging for the PSU to hold it.
This is full power usage of a system a 300 watt could run that setup.

No.
New PSU is in order.
Right up there ^ I don't know you can disagree with facts but a whole system with a heavily overclocked core i7 and a 5770 takes only 207 watts at peak load that isn't even 50% of the powersupplie's capacity.
Thanks for the replies
though i'm still feeling like questioning what to do
@OP country/site we can use

uhh i'm from estonia so purchasing these things is a hassle, no real site to provide
i'm thinking that if i would upgrade, i'd go for an OCZ 600W StealthXStream http://www.ocztechnology.com/products/power_management/ocz_600w_stealthxstream_power_supply
or a Corsair VX 550W
you don't need 600W
go for the 500W ModXStream, modular helps
It depends on the price; if the VX 550 is only a little more then get that over the OCZ.
