Avatards rejoice!
James Cameron has never made it a secret that he wants to do a sequel to Avatar, in fact, at the Global Premiere press conference (video footage here 22mins 25 sec in), Cameron in fact stated that he already has the story for a second and third movies of course using the caveat ‘as long as Fox allow it’ in a round-about way. I think after becoming the highest grossing movie of all time, the men in suits at Fox will be begging him to make another one, or two!
The chaps over at SlashFilm have a source who has told them today that Avatar 2 could already be gearing in up for action.
SlashFilm: According to the source, some behind the scenes technical crew have signed on for three to five year contracts, just in case it runs long.
I think we knew this would happen but this fast? I guess ticket sales say it all and personally, I’d love to see another movie, but will they be returning to earth in the second instalment? I guess we’ll have to wait to find out.
More info as we get it.
I absolutely loved Avatar! IMO I think it has the potential to be a pretty damn good franchise. I'd dare to say... 1 or 2 more movies and that's it. But PLEASE mr. Cameron, don't feed the Hollywood franchise milking machine with Avatar!!
Not really any big surprise.
Old news.
Oh ffs, not more predictable pretty bullshit.
I'm already bored of avatar, what we all really want is Titanic 2
I'm already bored of avatar, what we all really want is Titanic 2
Yeah the plot will be:
"Using high-tech machines, they revived Jack and he gets his own AVATAR which he uses to save the new Pandotanic battleship :v: "
I think i am interested in this. the first movie pretty much was pocahontas. Wonder what the second would be like.
Bambi?
Old news.
Not really... we all already knew there were going to be a sequel, but (personally) I didn't know they were this close to finish a sequel already.

SPOILER FOR THE MOVIE'S FINAL SCENE.
[sp]The movie ends when the Pandotanic hits an ice comet and sinks to the bottom of the galaxy[/sp]
Look what you've done, Twilight.
Too soon for a sequel.
But PLEASE mr. Cameron, don't feed the Hollywood franchise milking machine with Avatar!!
too late
James Cameron said he will make a sequel if his movie was a major success. If it was a mild or cult success, there won't be a high chance of a sequel.
But you know what they said, sequels tend to suck
Not really... we all already knew there were going to be a sequel, but (personally) I didn't know they were this close to finish a sequel already.
Yes really, we knew there was going to be a sequel and James Cameron said that with the current day technology it wouldn't take as much time as it did to make the first one so it would be considerably fast.
I'm already bored of avatar, what we all really want is Titanic 2
All I remember from the first one is boobies.

We all know bringing a sequel out too soon kills a franchise.
2 years between films is a good length of time to ensure a film with the same kind of setting and appearance looks brand spanking new again.

what the christ

I remember when I went to the movies to watch "Matrix Reloaded" and later on I found out "Matrix Revolutions" was coming out like, 4 or 5 months later... I was like "FUCK YEAH!!"
So I think it could be a good thing IMHO...

Revolutions sucked though
That's old news. The director of Avatar already said he was planning on making the movie into a trilogy a few weeks ago. Avatar took 12 years to make, if they were to make a sequel it wouldn't be out for a WHILE at least 5 years, and the visuals would probably be 10 times better. The only good thing about that movie anyway was the visuals. The story wasn't that great, typical action/adventure/romance movie, the only thing that puts it above other movies is the random nipple shots of blue alien seamonkeys.
If you love something let it go...
Meh. Doesn't interrest me that much.
The only good thing about that movie anyway was the visuals.
Is that a fact or an opinion? :P
IMO visual effects can be used as a narrative vessel, thus enhancing the storyline and the whole movie experience.

Well, the Terminator sequels actually didn't suck, at least not as much as they could have. I pretty much believe Cameron is one of those rare few in Hollywood that can prevent Sequelitis, and create decent sequels. The Avatar series shouldn't be an exception.
Well, the Terminator sequels actually didn't suck
Are you fucking kidding me? 3 and 4 disgraced 1 and 2.... Movies in general just aren't what they used to be.
The end of Avatar made me cream... But most things do
:20bux: :gizz:
I'm already bored of avatar, what we all really want is Titanic 2
In the year 2012, they recover the Titanic, which crashes into another iceberg which melts and causes another iceage.
Also :20bux: that the na'vi chick dies in either of the movies, as apparently it's the new "thing" in movie sequels that people die.

Terminator 3 was directed by Jonathan Mostow and 4 by "McG" (or whatever name he uses)... they weren't Cameron's... so I think Madman_Andre's got a point.
