blizzard knows how to draw back it's customers...
I swear, so many of my friends have joined back up too. I might as well
Literally nobody should be surprised. This happens with just about every new expansion launch.
Though I will say that this time around there appear to be a fuckton more people returning to the game.

No ex pack has ever regained numbers like WoD. They pulled literally 2.6 million people back into WoW. It looks like you didn't even read the article.

I like how the commercials on TV here were advertising that it would boost you to level 90 instantly. Like, why? Someone who plays MMOs explain this to me please.

Because you might hate leveling. Because you've done it before. Because you wanna get to play with your friends much quicker. Because you might actually not care about the leveling content (different from hating it).

There's really no fun leveling up in WoW
Damn impressive. Expansion is really good, definitively my favorite so far, so I'm not that surprised.

Been playing since '06, it's definitely tied with WoTLK for me, i dare say even better.
I think the reason why people are so jazzed about it is the revision of old lore and bringing back so many old characters.
I preordered WoD but haven't actually reduced now it's out; I have far too much uni work to do, playing wow again would fuck me over big time
A couple of months ago, subscriber numbers for World of Warcraft had dropped just under 7 million, which is still an absurdly massive number. One, however, that’s still far from its 12 million peak in 2010.
I think what blows me away the most is that WoW hit it's peak 6 years after it launched. That's fucking mental, say what you will about WoW but hot damn Blizzard. Most MMOs 6 years after launch are a whisper of a fart in a gale.
I'd love to start playing again, but I cannot afford the expansion pack, plus a subscription fee, sadly.
As much as I liked playing WoW, and with what WoD brings.. Ah well.
It definitely does ring a good tune.

Imagine wanting to play an MMO with your friends but you had to go through 2 months of content before you could actually play with them
I'm so happy for Blizzard, they deserve it.

Am I the only one that hates raid, pvp & endgame, and likes leveling?
I'm at 83 and it's taken me like 200 hours

What? Its been noted that subscription numbers have a tendency to spike with each new expansion launch.
Though it appears that WoD has produced the biggest shift in subscribers yet. Its great that so many people are returning to the game, but the fact that people are returning to the game shouldn't come as a surprise.
Again, its great that WoD is pulling massive amounts of people, but what I was saying that each expansion has done that to a degree. Just none have done it to the degree that WoD has apparently.

Questing is the best part of WoW.
(Quest > Secondary Professions > Achievements, toys, mounts, pets, etc > Raiding/Dungeons > PVP)

I've leveled to 100 purely doing quests the whole way.
Getting to 90 took me about 7 days of game-time.
It's a really good expansion.

I had a buddy who did a "roleplay" leveling run where he took his time, read all the quests, actually got invested in leveling up and the story of it, and said it was one of the best experiences hes had with WoW. This is after he spent years and years raiding hardcore. Took him two months to level level from 1-90.
Totally deserved, I think WoD has been my favourite XPac so far. New zones are fun as hell (Ashran is crazy fun), story is right back on track, and apart from the launch, almost everything is just kinda perfect.
I have to say this is probably the best expansion they've released and thank god after the travesty that was Pandaria.
I've gotta say I love the soundtrack for this expansion. Shadowmoon is a beautiful zone with some awesome music!
They've really made it up for us after the last two expansions.
Hope it stays on this track for the next expansions too.

The point is that none of the other expansions have created even remotely this kind of pull. Yes you get some people resubbing when expansions are released, but for the most part they dont break the overall trend of subscribers. WoD literally took the downhill slop of subs since MoP and turned it around. 3 million people isn't just "oh it got some more subs", it's showing a large shift in WoW's community and presents a very real possibility for them to break their original 12 million peak

Every expansion release has given about a 500k sub increase, aside from Cataclysm which really didnt change sub numbers at all. Burning Crusade gave some damn good numbers, but that's when WoW was growing in popularity too. WoD has created pull equal to all of the expansions combined, and that's just on launch. It's fucking insane!
