Hello! So I drew a car, that I made up myself, and made a 3d model of it. And also made some nice renderings. And I think it is really good, my friends say it is good, mom :D... Is there a way to send some pics of the car directly to car manufacturers? :D You know...maybe they will like it? I really want to be part of the car designing process, it's something I really want. No joke, and I aint 13 years old. It might sound funny, but I don't want to post the pics because...someone might steal them and claim them as theirs (had such a problem once) Thanks :) Sorry if wrong place to post this, I thought that creationism corner was about art, and I made art (but I aint showing none :P)
I think they only take concepts from their licensed, certified, trusted in-house engineers. That's why most car production companies have an engineering and design department. It's not really like you can e-mail a picture to Kia and get it made into a car. There's too much copyright and ownership stuff involved. If you really wanna design cars, you should use that picture you made and put it into a portfolio, then try and get a real career doing that. You might need some engineering degrees first, though. [editline]4th April 2013[/editline] So basically, start putting together a professional portfolio. Once you have some more good designs like that, and a few qualifications, you could get hired doing that. If it's what you wanna do, that is.
Thanks! :) So a portifolio could be on deviant art, or a personal website?
Professional portfolio. Check out the Deviantart Appreciation Station to see why using it is a bad idea. I'd use a personal website (not on freewebs or portfoliomaker or something) or a physical book of your work. You could make copies of the book and mail them to some companies, but I'm not an expert on that kind of process. Really though, if you want to design cars for a living, you should probably have better qualifications than making a pretty render one time. Do you have any formal education in engineering, physics, architecture, anything like that?

There are one hundred and one great artists on DA if you go in with a half-open mind As far as portolios go though, it's infinitely better to direct a client to your own site rather than your DA page. If you're a premium member on DA you can use it to host a half decent portolio, although buying the domain name is up to you.
Well, maybe I could use my google blogspot website...because buying a domain is kind of too much for me... Or the DA.

Oh, What about copyrighthing and stuff? I dont want anyone to claim my stuff as theirs :S
www.Cargocollective.com is also a really nice place to start up a portfolio. you got to apply for an account or get invited by someone.

And i do suggest you use this tag, :icondonotuseplz::iconmyartplz: it gives you a do not copy icon in your description, example. But as for other people claiming your work, Those accounts are normally purged.

I can barely see one of the cars because of it.

It's not bad actually. The fact that you're modelling stuff a lot, just from your own mind is a sign that you'll go far in 3D art if you stick with it. My advice is keep at it. Every single day model something, if not multiple things. Model whatever you want. Post it in http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1250064 and get feedback from people on it. As for presenting work, don't worry about copyright and all this stuff - if a major company or individual used any of your pics without permission, and didn't have the source files to prove they made it, whilst you did have the source files, you could get hundreds of thousands of dollars out of them in a lawsuit. Even super advanced, high level artists never watermark, and usually stick with just a small signature, if anything - and post their work on their own portfolio websites as well as reputable communities like CGSociety, Polycount and here. As for the domain/website situation, at some point you should really think of going pro - if a domain is 'too expensive' despite costing $3/year, just cut 2 bottles of coke out of your diet and get a domain for a year instead. Hosting wise, go with a wordpress blog, it's your simplest option - I can host you one for $50 a year on my dedicated server, which will be 1000x faster, and cheaper than anything else you'll find.
