• Let's Make a Concept Album V3 - 100% less kick, and 100% more Floyd imitation! (c) Roger Waters

Holy shit guys heres an idea that might get us in to writing and working again I propose an idea on this dream concept that we make the album a dream. We can split it in to two parts. Part 1) The average(?) dream. Stuff in the present that reflects his life (but obviously in musical form). This will be more to the point and less read between the lines. You know the whole dont do "I'm in space and im dreaming oh yea"? Well, this is kinda like that. This first segment will be essentially a mini album about dreams and such. Part 2) This segment, the dreamer goes in to a new dream and puts him in the place of a prominent figure in the Wars of The Roses. This part will be primarily if not 100% instrumental and will be connected through small but significant spoken word segments of Shakespeare's "The Life and Death of Richard the Third" Act 5. This part will feature some of my material, more specifically parts I, III and IV, which the other 2 will be in the next act. Part 3) This is the dreamer's "concert". Pretty straight forward, and seeing as we all have a good interest in Pink Floyd, all we need to do is picture the 4th side of The Wall for influence. Essentially it is a return (in terms of style) as the first part of the album. The crowd effects and other sound effects we can include, including some parts we can depict him getting booed off stage, then redeeming himself, then the crowd wanting an encore. This part will feature part 5 near or at the end, and hopefully part 2 (which itsup to you guys where it belongs, or if you want to include it at all. Keep in mind that sets 1 and 2 will be pretty lengthy. ====== Notes ====== As Mr N was explaining about dreams, they come in and out and can end abruptly. We will break the three segments by the character, "the dreamer" (who we need to name if we plan on including his name in it) waking up in bed (represented by household noises, ie if a washing machine is going off or something, or dialogue) then returning to sleep in to his next part of the dream. Because vocals are inevitable and cannot be avoided for a good concept album (if we're trying to depict an idea, we'll need to speak english to people), we can organize and write everything, then record everything, and in that time Mr N should hopefully have gained the time to aquire his vocal recording gear back, because his voice is great and ours isn't (unless one of yous want to step up to the microphone, lol), then we'll record his vocals and run over everything and then release the final full effort, no half ass rushed bullshit. I know it seems too late to start over, but we've managed next to nothing in 45 pages, so if you guys help out working on this seemingly good concept (in my opinion anyways), we should be able to make a work that completely destroys the first concept album, at a professional level. Something that'll be FUN to collaborate with, and just as important, be enjoyable for people so all our effort doesn't go to waste. We want people who listen to this album to listen to it more than once. A recap; 1. Possible Intro 2. Dream stuff - tracks 1-5 will be simple songwriting. These songs will not segue in to each other at all, unlike the others, though an exception is possible) 3. Blah 4. Blah 5. Blah 6. Break to act 2, overture (Track 1 of TGOITG plays) 6.2 Spoken Word Segments with BGM 7. Track IV of TGOITG 7.2 Spoken Word Segments with BGM 8. Track III of TGOITG 8.2 Spoken Word, Richard III falls in battle 9. Break to act 3, beginning of crowd chants 10. Performance main act 1 (long group of songs) 11. Bad Solo (short, I can do it because i suck) 12. Good Solo (middle length, a dual solo with mr n and yurko, possible where one has left guitar and other has right, starts as a dual then start working together until the drum roll on the next song) 13. Kicks in to good song, Performance main Act 2 (long group of songs, includes 3 minutes of that poles apart cover, then the break in the middle leads to a new song) 14. The Closing (short, Part V of TGOITG) 15. Encore(?) Not a strict set but enough to make it long yet one album. So, are we in? /quote Disclaimers Basically there's going to be a LOT of time to work on this album, and for good reasons. We're going to work COLLABORATIVELY to write everything TOGETHER rather than the weak point of the previous albums where the tracks were single works submitted and slammed together in to the one album. Album V2 fixed the ~flow~ problems with the first one, but then again V1 had more musicianship than V2 for the most parts, V2 being built heavily no experimentation bar some really awesome music built tracks. With that being said, we shall strive to make this our best album by the following terms: Aiming towards the goal: -In the previous work we had a lot of trouble with this, and if we all have our set direction, it'll make pretty much everything much easier, and avoid any confusion or dispute Working together: -I may be Roger Waters here, but this is no Final Cut, this is Dark Side, bitch. Ie we're going to work together so we all have a good balance musically and idealistically. Write now, demo next, finish later: -We're using time to help this album out, when Mr N's vocal gear makes his way back to him firstly (which will take months), secondly when I aquire my MM6 (which will be anywhere from within the week to christmas, more likely December) I can put MIDI files into it to be played back on high quality sounds. This should be a great tool specifically for Hakita, his great song writing changing from cheesy MIDI to near realistic sounds could be of great help. Originality: -Many bands/groups have influences without BEING the band, so we can do that aswell. We all together have a broad range of genre influences from Prog Rock, to Metal, to Soul, and even electronic. So basically we can include the elements of these tracks that would work well together to create our own layered sound. There may also be a variety, say an acoustic piece before an orchestral piece? It's been done before, Emerson ;) Personnel Akayz - Experimentation, Musicianship Reset Panda - Orchestration, Instrumentation, Bass recording Mr N - Guitar, Drumrunning (putting programmed drums through EZdrummer for better quality) Yur|ko - Guitar, Nylon Guitar, Orchestration Hakita - Instrumentation Clovis - Instrumentation ^The group of musicians practically confirmed to help out. Any user can feel free to contribute at any time. Yet to be updated So we'll start with part 1 first. A basic set of songs based on the theme of dreams. Post your work and allow CC and ideas with others, please, make this as together as possible!
Propose new idea. Dreams too complex. [editline]10th October 2011[/editline] Also I like how "we're now a band, therefore no other people are allowed". :/

I still would like to throw in my awesome (see ; average) mixing/mastering skills to this mix if possible.
Well yeah, I would do it as a personal experimental project. I mentioned it before, we tried doing a mixture of ambient things but it all ended up as a confused project. Hence the "tracklist before you've even made the music" thing. :-)
It's just a general idea for now. I don't just want to be like "the concept is dreams now make songs", because we all know how that works out :mmmsmug:
Yeah, arguements. :v:
hi im a vocalist here is a sample hokpe u kike :)
Yo put me up for orchestration too. I also have p. badass piano samples.
If anyone needs wafts of wind for their guitar solos, drop me a line.
Ok, I have good news and bad news. The bad news is that I won't be getting my old mic back.
Sounds good

holy shit yet another one did the other get released or is this a continuation
holy shit yet another one did the other get released or is this a continuation
The other one ain't finished, but I'll salvage it by myself if noone wants to help. :(
you guys let it go on too long and it was shit Keep me updated, I *might* write something for this, I think the concept is a bit too convoluted though but who knows, might work
you guys let it go on too long and it was shit
There were a few good tracks in it to salvage, so I'll see what happens once it's put together and posted.
There were a few good tracks in it to salvage, so I'll see what happens once it's put together and posted.
I more mean the fact that it went on for so long was shit, the material was great Imo something so complex and intricate like this will never get done, I think that if you guys are gonna do a concept album it needs to be something of totally universal interest that someone can jump aboard and do no matter what kind of music they are into because then people will want to write for it Like for example I love the wall but I would hate doing a concert and stage stuff where he gets booed off
I remixed it:
I had a feeling this would happen :v:
I would have put one of your guitar solos on there but I couldn't find any raw ones in my stash.
Mr N's voice is sexy
I can play bass guitar pretty well, and I'd love to come up for some shit for this album. Only problem is, I have no way to record MP3s of just me playing the bass. I know there are some amps that can do this, what do you guys use to record guitar, bass, etc.?

Interface? Could I just plug my bass into the computer with my current cable? [editline] dadf[/editline] Okay, I will have to find/buy a 1/8 to 1/4 adapter, and when I do, I'll find some way to contribute.
We're gonna making this happen Idea for concept : Descension into madness, that way we can start of with some songs that are melodic, joyful and soothing, and then build up pressure with more chaotic, complex songs as the album progresses until a grand finale, where everything just goes boom. We could have a song in the ending that's serene and chill again.

i agree with hakita
I agree with Hakita but I agree with Vedicardi too, who should I agree the most with?
