This March 27 is Earth Hour, where people around the world join together in trying to reduce carbon emmisions. Plan is to switch of your lights for an hour.Im thinking of also switching off all unimportant electrical items for the hour too. Anyone gonna follow me? Support Earth Hour at http://www.earthhour.org
I won't.
Coal power stations, well at least the one my power comes from output the same amount of power regardless of the use, so to spite you i'll turn on all the lights in my house.
Last time i ran around the house, switching on everything and having a bonfire outside at the same time. The electricity bills will be higher for that hour but it's totally fucking worth it.
Anyway, why would an alien be interested in this? Do you want us to keep our world in as good condition as we can until we are all enslaved? :tinfoil:
During Earth Hour 09, I was in sydney on holidays... Every fricking apartment building and every fricking office block went dark... Then i went back to my room and put all my chargers on, Turned on all lights, Turned on the TV, Turned on the radio, Turned on my laptop, Turned on the girl next door, Turned on my video game console
Why do it?
This is one of the most moronic and futile gestures I've ever witnessed.
I'll probably be asleep.
Narp. I'll keep my PC on. Also, if I turn my internet modem off then my heartbeat stops too. So not a good idea.
Nah.
I could live without the lights on. Not without my computers on though.
I never do this even though i think its a cool idea its not to stop anything its just them trying to smack us in the face saying we need to stop destroying shit.
Why be a prick and not turn stuff off though? Might aswell since everyone else is doing it, and it saves shit
I play really, REALLY loud music. and turn the light switch to my room on and off rapidly.
I am not going to do anything. There is no point, it's just to make people feel good. Power stations still have to produce baseline flow and when Earth Hour is up, a fucktonne of people are going to turn all their electrical shit on at the same time.
I try to be protective of the earth but this is plain dumb.
Honestly couldn't give a flying fuck Carbon Emissions, and I don't think anybody here does anymore either.
Why be a prick and not turn stuff off though? Might aswell since everyone else is doing it, and it saves shit
No it doesn't. Electricity is still being produced. Supply stays the same even if demand lessens for an hour. All this does is put stress on the power grid (apparently? I don't actually have any confirmation of it) by causing a shit load of people to turn all of their appliances/lights on at the same time.

Nah, I'll pass. That's kind of the reason I spent loads on buying super A grade bulbs that run off of baby giggles and kitten farts for the whole of my house.
Fuck the environment.
Fuck the environment.
hell yea
:bang: at activists actually believing that electricity is not being produced during that hour. Oh and I didn't turn it off last year and I won't this year.
Well, someone has to use all that spare power, might as well be us.
Yeah i host a Gmod server, a Website, and sharedrive from my computer. I will not do this.
I'll do it. But not to save earth, it just looks awesome when it's pitch black outside(aside from a few windows that are lit)
I'll turn my lights off, but turn on everything else.
I'm gonna rev up my hummer and drive up and down the street.
I never do this even though i think its a cool idea its not to stop anything its just them trying to smack us in the face saying we need to stop destroying shit.
..Well we do have to stop destroying shit. It would be kinda helpful for future generations if we stopped being asshats and helped out takin care of the planet.
