On the same day David Cameron called for a boycott of "vile" websites which people have used for online bullying, the Sun has pulled it's sponsorship from question-and-answer site Ask.fm. Mr Smith, 45, had said those who run the website should face murder or manslaughter charges. Holy shit that girl went to my school. Fuck I saw my facebook page for it, earlier, I hadn't realised it got this big. I think she didn't have that many close friends or anything, most people barely knew her, I doubt the "Cyber bullying" was anything but the straw that broke the camels back. Still I don't think anything like this has every happened here before, which is probably why Cameron's looking for a scapegoat.
so if I told someone to kill themselves in this thread right now, garry could go to prison? interesting...
people who don't know how the internet works trying to act like they do interesting
people who don't know how the internet works trying to act like they do interesting
Well, you know... It's a series of tubes. And a man on the other side of those tubes could stick his genitals into them and into your son's bedroom. Or something.
so if I told someone to kill themselves in this thread right now, garry could go to prison? interesting...
Cameron would ask people to boycott Facepunch.
Or you could have just paid attention to your child and stop blaming others.
oh wow yes ask.fm actively encourages internet trolling and cyber bullying they must be stopped immediately
If anyone doesn't know, Ask.fm allows people to setup a profile for anyone to anonymously and publicly ask questions and post comments for someone, and they can respond.
This is like me telling someone who lives down the road to kill themselves and then the road getting dug up.
If that kid had genuine problems, her parents should've fucking done something.
Oh fuck off. Stop blaming the website.
Reading the article, I can kinda see where he's coming from, like yeah these websites do have lax security and report systems and such, but who would use a site where you have to go through rigorous testing before you are deemed not a bully. Like I said earlier, I think she was depressed already, her year was heading up to the next school come September and she seriously seemed kind of lonely and quiet.
Ban real life because sometimes people get bullied in real life
Ban real life because sometimes people get bullied in real life
Ban people because they cause bullying.
People are mean on a website causing suicide = Blame website. People drink drive and kill someone = Blame car Am I doing it right?
Charge the government with genocide because of all the murders in their country
I am being bullied by post. Please boycott the Royal Mail.
lol I was watching ITV news the other day (yeah.. i know) and they had a guest on that said that children shouldn't be allowed to be anonymous online, and should use their real details to discourage cyber bullying yeah getting children to use their real identities online is really gonna protect them
for a boycott of "vile" websites which people have used for online bullying
If the websites have been used for cyberbullying then why are the websites vile?
does David Cameron not know what 4chan is?
And I really don't blame her parents for not noticing that sort of thing, it's a tiny town, it was shocking to hear about, so I doubt they thought anything like that could ever happen to there kid. It can be hard to notice that kind of thing in teenagers until it's too late, usually they try to act like everything's alright to other people. Tbh I don't think anyone's completely to blame for the whole thing.
This is like if someone got bullied on a playground, and then the police arrested the people who laid the tarmac.
I like how we all said the same shit about formspring 5 years ago. This is the same damn site
I hate that David Cameron and other politicians are so out of touch with reality
Cameron's just pandering for votes.
no, it doesnt. Fuck you Cameron sir.
The website didn't do shit, cyber bullying isn't even a legitimate thing, blame your mega hyper over sensitive child. "i hate u >:-("
I am being bullied by voice. Please boycott air.
Glad to know they care more about a stranger who they'll never meet saying a mean thing or two, than real life bullies who cause way more harm.
