Today at 12:56, the European Parliament decided whether ACTA would be ultimately rejected or whether it would drag on into uncertainty. In a crushing 478-to-39 vote, the Parliament decided to reject ACTA once and for all. This means that the deceptive treaty is now dead globally.
ACTA 2: Electric Boogaloo
For now.
Lol yea they're going to convince 200 MEPs to switch sides. Remember, they didn't reject it because of pressure, they rejected it because it was shit
Thank you based Europe!
Boom!
ACTA 2: Electric Boogaloo
Or ACTA 2: The Meltown
Didn't some guy say they'd take it through the EU court system if it didn't pass?
RIP in peace ACTA.
Fantastic!
And now we wait for them to try again.
Fucking slammed.
More like Rest in Pieces
Kaaaaaaboom.
we won bitches
HOWEVER. Just because the European Parliament killed it doesn't mean the US can't still take it on. Although, then it would only affect America and no other country, making it pretty much fucking useless.
suck it, all you old men ruling the world
suck it, all you old men ruling the world
Well those 'old men' are the ones who rejected ACTA.
I think the EU did pretty good here
This calls for a celebration.

You're underestimating the impact the US sadly has on the rest of the world.
Ouch, that's gotta hurt.
The EU has been doing all sorts of internet-bro stuff lately
What's next, ban on-disk DLC?
There'll be a new attempt with a different name next year, etc etc. People shouldn't think that this shit is over just because the biggest name is dead.
Hopefully, ACTA died a horrible death.
If laws can die horrible deaths.

They really should. On-disk DLC is like buying a bike with its brakes cut and having to pay more for them as extra. If you own a physical copy of something, who are publishers to decide how much of it you can access?
As one Swedish Pirate MEP said; "Activism is paying off".

I like to think it was standing in the middle of the parliament when 478 MEPs got up with knives and stabbed it repeatedly to death and it died in a pool of it's own blood.
