That's pretty nice of them. It does look like a decent deal as well
I don't think it counts as a gift when you're giving it to them instead of the product they paid for.
Compensated is a better word.
I want to hear what the people who actually paid $10,000 think about this.

Backing a kickstarter isn't paying for a product.

If one of the tiers of rewards is getting said product, A person probably thinks they'll get said product, and is most likely the reason they paid the money for that tier of rewards.

That's still not purchasing a product. That's an add-on to investing in a project.
at least they got 2 shitty indev games instead of 1 shitty indev game
Landmark isn't that good. Played it a few months back, and I dont really have much faith it will get a whole lot better. It has such a pointlessly unfun grind.

It's been more of a test of the engine than anything for a while, if you like building then it's got to be one of the best games for that though.
Now that they're adding combat and exploration of caves for loot it's becoming more enjoyable as an actual game. The economy and city building should really make the game feel more alive when they're implemented.

Whether or not they think that is irrelevant.
You are not paying for the game. You're funding it.

They just added tons of functionality last week. Now that the core functionality is done, they're turning it into a game. Give it another shot.
So what happened to the tens of thousands that went into it?
I would like to see this game picked up again, it had great fucking potential too!
The only reason that the community of backers are lashing out is because they aren't getting what they hoped for when they sunk their money into the project. And understandably so.
The only criticism I would offer to some of these people is to stop acting so entitled. It is glaringly obvious that the failure of the project is disappointing for all involved, not least for the developers and the Yogscast, who trusted the project with their namesake.
This isn't the ideal outcome that everyone wanted. It is, as someone else in this thread pointed out, compensation. Damage control.
If people complain that they didn't see the final release, all it does is show that they invested for the wrong reason. Nothing on kickstarter is guaranteed.
You give the money to the developers in the hope that they can see their project through to the end. Sometimes projects just don't work out, reguardless of how well they are funded.
I for one think that it was really good of them to try and salvage the situation in some way. Better than for them to just take the money and run.
