• iPhone 5 no where close to bein jail broken: jailbreak devs lament on Twitter
Those who own the iPhone 5 and other devices with iOS 6 are thinking about just one thing and that is when developers are going to come out with an untethered jailbreak. As things stand right now it’s not looking good. iPhone 5 & iOS 6 untethered jailbreak progress not great Jailbreak developers have been seen using Twitter over the past few days talking about the aspects that surround the jailbreak for the iPhone 5. It was pointed out that developers are working on certain aspects of the jailbreak for iPhone 5, one of which was kernel exploits. P0sixninja was one of them and this developer was looking into how to dump the bootROM. Apple has greatly improved security in this area and a dump of a bootROM has not happened for years on iPhones. Should someone find how to work around this then the untethered jailbreak for iOS 6 and iPhone 5, plus other iPhones to come, might come a lot quicker as it would be easier to jailbreak devices. Twitter users have asked p0d2g, who has been updating his account on Twitter regularly, about progress for the untethered jailbreak for iOS 6. Things are not looking good apparently as he said that his focus was not on userland exploits anymore. He went on to say that each day brings something new and so he might begin work on jailbreaking the iPhone 5 and iPhone 4S again. So it appears that for the time being he is not working on the jailbreak. Of course this question is one of the most asked since the developer started tweeting in regards to the fact that he will be a DJ at the WWJC 2013. Anyone who wants to know more about the untethered jailbreak for iOS 6 may be interested in a YouTube video recently posted for the JB community. The video shows a live stream focused on the jailbreak for iOS 6 featuring the top jailbreakers out there. It provides an interesting insight into just where the jailbreak stands. Developers in the video include p0d2g, PlanetBeing and MuscleNerd, all of whom provide information which suggests that the untethered jailbreak for the iPhone 5 and iOS 6 is nowhere in sight. Of course even though p0d2g has come back to Twitter to mainly talk about the WWJC, fans have still welcomed him. They would have liked him to have brought more positive news about the actual jailbreak though. You do have to remember that developers do have a life outside of looking for the jailbreak and if iOS 6 is as hard to jailbreak as they are saying, then this will cause stress and the developers will need to take a break. Right now iOS 6 seems to be the hardest iOS to crack and this is something that Joshua Hill confirmed. He also said that Apple had included protection that was ridiculous in iOS 6. Joshua also reminded those wanting the jailbreak not to be conned by those who said they had it. People have been setting up websites claiming to have the jailbreak for iOS 6 and asking for money, but they are scams.
http://www.autoomobile.com/news/iphone-5-ios-6-untethered-jailbreak-news/1009153/
One more reason why my Nexus 4 is infinitely better. (User was banned for this post ("Trolling" - MaxOfS2D))
Yes lets turn this into an Android vs iOS argument right off the bat. Wonderful post.
One more reason why my Nexus 4 is infinitely better.
Hey, at least I can actually get an iPhone here in Holland if I want to. Unlike, say, the Nexus 4 or the Nexus 10 that aren't available here for reasons unknown and which I'd have to import if I want it.
God dammit why did I update to iOS 6... It's not that I want a jailbreak, but I've had nothing but trouble with iOS 6 since I downloaded it. Between this, maps still being garbage, iMessage having regular outages, and the other iOS 6 issues (laggy keyboard, battery drainage). It makes me wonder if somehow Steve Jobs was holding apple together. Also, how come we never see media reports on things like iMessage going down, but if BBM goes down everyone talks about it. Apple can't be the golden icon of the tech sector forever... It'll catch up with them like it caught up with RIM (speaking as someone who knows people from RIM, I live near their HQ).
I'm still waiting for a 4S jailbreak. It's been like 6 months.

RIM went down because they were completely caught off guard when the iPhone launched, and unlike Google they didn't react by adding real touch support(even if it was half assed) and giving away a free OS to capture insane market share. [editline]5th December 2012[/editline]
IOS ftw
Heh. I think Apple licensed that or something.
The only way you can Jailbreak a 3310, is by literally breaking out of jail with it as your only tool. And I've never understood the obsession with locking things down harder than Fort Knox, better to keep it open, but hide the sensitive bits away from the average Joe/Jane and their tendency to make even a egg timer or clock-radio lock-up.
Are you sure it didn't update itself to Android?
Well a shitty port by your average XDA goon would certainly explain it all. How they can manage to break even the already broken is beyond me.

But when you think about it, even when problems began arising with BlackBerry, they still had a loyal base that was willing to put up with a lot. Kind of like Apple now. I agree with you, I`m just saying it`s similar.

What a shame. The only reason I bought an iPhone a while back was because I knew I could jailbreak it, I'd have no real use for it otherwise.
Wow amazing, not everybody lives in America LordCrypto, and the iPhone 5 has an aluminum back with two small glass inserts that sit flush with it. I've been on my 5.1.1 jailbreak for a long time. I want to stay for obvious reasons, but since so many apps have updated beyond, I have dozens of games that crash on startup. It sucks.
