I've been wondering: Has anyone from facepunch heard of the German Techno band Kraftwerk?
I personally think they are fucking amazing, and that everyone should listen to them, but if techno is not your cup of tea, then I understand completely.
Kraftwerk is slowly fading into obscurity(though their last album was released in 2007, it was a compilation, not a new album). They no longer tour, although I believe they were once very famous, considering a youtube video of them has over 1,000,000 views, and many of my friends have heard of or are fans of theirs.
So basically, what is your opinion on the German Techno band, Kraftwerk. If you have not heard of them, then post that. I would also like to see how many people are unfamiliar.

Precisely. They pretty much created New Age music in 1974, with the release of their first album, Autobahn(Yes, Autobahn meaning the highway with no speed limit, located in Germany). They pretty much created(and after it became more widely recognized), revolutionized the genre.
They are like my favourite band, I discovered them in 10th grade (2004) and have like all their albums.

Their first album was "Kraftwerk" in 1970.
I love Kraftwerk. Die Roboter is great, as is a lot of their stuff.
Even if I'm not old, it's still nostalgic for me.
I fucking love Kraftwerk. The Man-Machine is one of my favorite albums within the electronic genre. And they're not fucking techno.
even if they don't know it, everybody likes one of Kraftwerk's creations

Thank you.
God bless Kraftwerk, if it wasn't for them I'd probably not be listning to the stuff I do now.
Radioactivity and Trans-europe express are one of my favourite electronic albums.

Yeah I agree, they aren't techno. As I stated earlier,"They revolutionized the New Age music Genre."
On i Tunes etc. they are labeled as "electronica/dance" which I completely agree with. I realize they are not techno, and I didn't realize I labeled them as that.
The music is basically the basics of all electronic music. And a few lads from Kraftwerk left during the years and formed Neu!, which pretty much also helped move krautrock even further.
They no longer tour
...they've been touring for the last 5 years. All over the world.
In fact, they played a gig just the other week in Hong Kong.
And they just announced 2009 tour dates.
That's a lot of touring for a band who doesn't tour.
Kraftwerk are rad.

All the members must be really old by now, though.

They were at Coachella 2008.
I want to go to Coachella some time.
I've gotta be in the mindset to listen to them, but they're pretty decent.

Damn! Stupid fucking http://www.pollstar.com !!! It said they aren't on tour... It made me sad. But now I suppose I'm happy since they are on tour! Sorry I'm ranting. I'm tired... I just worked on homework for three hours strait and my brain is pretty fucked...
I love Kraftwerk!
I own Minimum-Maximum. Radioactivity!!!
