I HATE anime, but then again, america has put animation's face in shit with Family Guy, but especially then cleveland show...god I hate that show.
Still American though
This makes no sense to me.
I fucking hate anime. I'd rather watch the terrible cleveland show than any anime show.
British animation
:smug:
What I'm more interested by is however that the country of origins automaticly makes animation 2 vastly differant things
I mean to both sides
What if clannad was made by fox but was the exact same as it was as an anime but seeing how it's now made by an American company it is differant now
And if the good episodes of the simpsons were made in Japan but were the exact same does that qualify it as an anime
oh god its a tie.
anime is winning
It should be Anime version Western shouldn't it?
The only "anime" I like is the style in Kill Bill. If they made more stuff like that instead of <--- things like this, they'd be good.

THISTHISTHISTHIS FUCKING THIS.
I love Kill Bill Vol 1 I'm sorry
Hayao Miyazaki does some good stuff though
Both because that's how I roll.
The biggest problem with anime is poor writing. The plots are absolutely incomprehensible, it's like they're trying to make a 20-hour-long film and then they chop it into episodes. Western storytelling seems to have a much more comprehensible grasp on episodic series.
Additionally, Anime often begins to feel like Lost, in which there seems to be no plan or arc for the plot to have been following, rather the writers just stick different characters in a room every episode and write about how they interact.
Since it says specifically American vs Anime, I'm going to say anime. American animation works most of the time are just shitty comedies filled with stupid pop culture references, whereas anime can sometimes pull off a decent plot. If you said "Western" instead of American I'd probably rethink that since it encompasses all other possibilities (UK, etc)
normal cartoons im not a japanese america hater
Both.
American animation, because most anime stars teenage girls with tits bigger than their heads and is so full of sexual shit to the point where it is distracting and annoying.
[editline]1[/editline]
Who the fuck is rating me dumb? Are you telling me that I'm wrong? I can list examples:
* Season 2 of Code Geass, where they turned one of the leading female characters into the generic overly-sexualized anime chick no one cares about. In almost every scene where she was piloting a mecha, her tits were bouncing up and down faster than the mechas shooting machine guns, and let's not forget how the artist had a thing for "ass-shots."
* The anime film "Paprika," where in one scene, a guy sticks his hand into a woman's vagina, only to have it fade right through her
* Eden of the East... the fucking ending? Middle?
These are just examples from the anime I've seen. Although I did enjoy the aforementioned anime, I did find the oversexualization very annoying. I've tried to watch other animes, but couldn't continue due to all the tits, sexual innuendos, and lack of a plot.
American
Edit: I just realised somthing
The fuckyou and Razz are the same
:fuckyou:
Wait...one is looking the other way
I can't decide!
they're both equally shitty and good at the same time

there are plenty of Anime out there. You just need to stop generalizing.
The majority of it is

Alright master of knowledge
Gimme a nice list of animes similar to k-on if there are so many it shouldn't be hard right?
I want a both option
Hard one. But in the end it would have to come down to the western animation. Smoother, more cartoonish proportions, way less sexual content that is just bothersome and it can't fail at being serious since it never is serious in the start, with few exceptions.
Take a look at this before you judge anime for having only one shitty style:

It often depends on the anime, though I agree with you on that some are as imcromprehensible as MW2's campaign.
I rather watch the movie Akira instead of watching anime show.

I've seen shows way better than Akira. Akira was some mediocre, but above average show.

It is cartoons if it is made in the western part of the world. Anime if it is made in the eastern part of the world. That simple.
There is no definition of style in anime nor cartoons. Cartoons however are limited to 2D and 3D. Anime is limited to animation, stop-motion, 2D drawings, 3D animation, plastelina animation, you name it.
