• SSD: Samsung 840 Pro 128GB vs Corsair GS 128GB?

I cant work out which SSD to purchase, The Samsung Pro series is very good as I have seen reviews however, majority of benchmarks are with the 256GB models and up, which have higher specs. The 840 128GB version is basically on par with the Corsair GS. The only difference is the Samsung Pro has 7k more IOPS with read than the Corsair GS.... I've seen that the IOPS are more important to look at than the Read/write...Fuck, im stumped guys Or do I get like the Intel 520 128GB? What one do I get? I've got a 128GB 840 Pro and I wish I had just bought a 256. It fills up pretty quick. From what I understand though, the Samsung Pro's are pretty much the gold standard right now. [editline]6th July 2013[/editline] In both Speed and Reliability.
Size isn't the problem for me mate, and the 128GB version has less performance than the 256GB ones Thats why im asking...
I'm aware of that, but they're still considered top tier SSD's in their class. They're among, if not the, fastest, and the most reliable.
Will you be using this with a laptop, or a PC? If a laptop, it's also worth looking into the power consumption - something which the 840 Pro's are king at. Also budget wise, are you just looking for something around $150 AU? Honestly, if you have to go for 128GB due to budget then get the Samsung 840 Pro. The IOPS are as high as anything that PCCG has for that price range, the power consumption is great and you only have a minor nerf of the sequential write speed. I've got an 830 in my Macbook Pro as well as an 840 pro in my PC and they're both absolutely superb compared to [url=https://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=210_902_1205&products_id=22915]this which I previously had in my laptop[/url].
Its purely for a PC, the budget is around $100-150 AU, I guess everyone is saying 840 Pro for a reason... [editline]7th July 2013[/editline] Im going with the 840 Pro, Thanks guys... problem solved
Make sure though your PC handles it correctly, even though SSDs are compatible with SATA II, it's a shame if your drive performs less than it could.
