WASHINGTON ― Rounding out one of the worst weeks in his presidential campaign, Donald Trump faces yet another sad reality. According to new NBC/Wall Street Journal polling released Thursday, only 1 percent of black voters nationally support the Republican nominee.

This is the lowest level of support ever recorded among the demographic, indicating that a sentiment already present among black voters in swing states is widespread. Trump also suffers among Hispanic voters, garnering just 26 percent of their vote, according to an Economist/YouGov poll released earlier this week.

Generating support among voters of color ― whom Trump’s rhetoric habitually alienates ― is key to winning the general election. People of color constitute nearly one-third of eligible voters, making the 2016 electorate the most diverse in U.S. history. This renders it essential for Trump to secure higher numbers of those votes in order to win. President Barack Obama won 93 percent of the black vote and 71 percent of the Hispanic vote nationally in 2012; in 2008, he won over 95 and 67 percent, respectively. The most recent Republican president, George W. Bush, won over 11 percent of African-Americans and 44 percent of Hispanics support in 2004; in 2000 he won 9 and 35 percent, respectively. Amazing
The remaining 1% is just there out of pity.
Oh gee I wonder why
if you keep offending everyone to the point that your supporters slowly become more and more niche you're going to end up not being supported
the trump campaign, no matter how it turns out, surely is going to be a case study in the future
Racism.
1% of black voters are Uncle Ruckus.
While I dont doubt the majority support Hillary( No idea why, shes actually awful for the black community), there is no way just 1% support Trump. Who the fuck makes these polls?

every week a poll comes out that shows trump's abysmal performance nationally and a couple trump supporters have to come out and explain why they think polls aren't real.

I don't understand what's so baffling about that

It's probably 1% because Trump is a racist lol
But I thought he told us "his African American over there" showed how much the black community loves him??!? Are you telling me Trump is deluded or a liar?
I don't understand what's so baffling about that
For only 1% of such a big population to support something is kinda surprising, even if the reason is obvious in this case.
It's probably 1% because Trump is a racist lol
Nice new thought, we didn't think of that when questioning such a statistical improbability.

maybe look at mitt's polls? mccain's? 1% is not as crazy as it sounds
The remaining 1% is just there out of pity.
the remaining 1% thought they were voting for carson

Yah yah, 1% of a sample of what, 1000 people of color only support Trump?
This is yet another cherry-picked poll to further anti-Trump agenda, god damn it.

That's basically how every poll is now. Don't act like everyone is out to get your precious Trump.

The amount of polling in general is quite ridiculous imo, and some polls don't really seem to serve a fair purpose, like this one here.
And the way they are headlined sometimes. It's kinda unfair towards Trump imho, but whatever.

Trump's political campaign is essentially an anti-Trump agenda.

It's a focus group sample poll built on rules of sample size accuracy with an assumed error. It's not cherry picking, it an attempt to make an accurate generalization of a very massive statistical group. This is done because no statistician on the planet is going to plow through more than a couple thousand data samples when 1000-3000 people usually produce a result accurate enough to measure the opinion of several million.
Yeah he's made some pretty crazy statements and promises, and if he wins against these odds that people like to put him up against, like with all the negative polling, then color me impressed. How's he even standing where he is standing now?
Anyway, it'd be nice if the way polls are represented to the public were more impartial and neutral, or so. Telling it how it is.
I'm sure actual newspapers and stations use similar headlines like this thread, and at least to me the initial reaction is "Why even vote if he has such a low support?" but of course it's a sample of 800 people. So, sort of biased reporting I think, but.. whatever.

They pretty much are though.

If done properly, 800 people will result in a very small margin of error - as in, maybe Trump has 3% support instead of 1%. Unless you have something to suggest that they didn't do this properly, your only excuse for thinking that this is a biased poll is if you have no understanding of how polling works. The latter seems pretty likely based on the fact that you're attacking the number of respondents, not how representative that sample might be (e.g., they may all be 20-year olds from Queens or whatever).

It's not biased reporting. It's a display of key data and information highly detrimental to understanding a candidate's progress in winning the presidential vote. If you're discarding all information available as bias or untruthful just because it is not absolute, then you are likely positioning yourself towards failure more than victory.
Of course, that is not to say that he has no chance because of one poll. But more information builds a more coherent picture. And denying it just because not every poll is a nationwide measuring of millions of individuals is primitive.

polls are fair, because they're polls. you're literally asking people not to report facts because facts can sway people's beliefs.
though it wouldn't be the first time that the far right had a problem with facts.
McCain got 4% of the African American vote in 2008
Romney got 6% in 2012
Anyone saying this number is just part of the media's anti-Trump campaign is also saying "I know literally nothing about American politics"

arguing statistics and polls with trumpers is like banging your head against a brick wall, if he's winning it's a sign of his imminent success, if he's losing, every poll is biased and rigged by the she-devil hilary clinton, the trump sub-reddit trotted out a wikileaks twitter poll because he's losing massively in every competent one.
There's even a website dedicated to gathering up polls and giving trump extra points so he's winning in them lol

Also, why would they only fake the black one? 26% of the Hispanic vote isn't much, but it's still only 3/4ths of the vote going to Hillary. They could've easily done 9/10ths if they cared.
