You're the President of the USA and you want to fix the economy at whatever means necessary, what do

It can be crazy, it can be smart, I don't give a shit just fix it FP!
Legalize it, use taxes on hemp and medical marijuana to fix the econ.
Ban everything and everyone except me and all women that WILL love me.
Get rid of government.
I have no idea how the USA works so I'll just say legalize+tax durgs and pull everything out of Pakistan
Tone down the massive spending on our wars without just pulling everybody out in one sweep. Put more emphasis on production efficiency so we have more products coming out of the US, allowing firms to have the resources to hire more an expand. Stomp out useless attempts at passing useless bills, because that time and money could be better spent on things besides Republican v Democrat squabbles.
All of this is easier said than done, of course, and unfortunately for our current president, he isn't allowed to fix anything, because any attempt he makes is shot down immediately, followed by him getting the blame for not fixing anything.
restore to a previous cycle.

Take a vacation
1. Take all the money.
2. Deport every single person within the country to Mexico except myself.
3. I am now the only person in the US, with all the wealth.
4. GDP is now $14.5 trillion per capita. The highest in the world by 8 orders of magnitude.
Then I'll consider the economy officially fixed.

says the man from china
Legalize + tax marijuana, raise taxes on rich, cut military spending + probably more shit, but I haven't bothered doing research on this.
says the man from china
I just moved here from America after all my life
Use my SS (Secret Service) to harm those who try to get in the way of prosper so that corporations can be free.
i just print more money.
Firstly the separate branches of government would be merged into one, and the states would have all state powers stripped and the federal government given good power. Next taxes would be raised on various social classes to reach an optimum balance. The largest private companies would be brought under control of the state and stock markets would be abolished.
Next the country would withdraw from all wars it is engaged in. The military funding would be slashed to low levels and a small professional force of troops would be kept around at all times along with a larger conscript one for use in case of defensive wars. The country would essentially become anti-military and use it only to protect itself. (Defensive wars in themselves are the best ones for the nation involved as it holds many advantages whilst doing so.)
All subsidies would be removed on goods, and the unemployed would be brought into large government schemes along with many prisoners (Mostly those imprisoned under petty crimes.) and a massive infrastructure reorganisation would begin. Railways, highways, roads and the such would be reorganised and rebuilt for optimum use. Nuclear power plants would be set up along with hydroelectric dams to start being used as a reliable and cheap source of power.
Taxes would be placed on religious organisations, marriage would be made legal for all homosexuals. The safer drugs (Cannabis for example) would be legalised. (Taxing them would be of almost no benefit.) Homosexuals, bisexuals, trannsexuals, those of all nationalities would be treated equally and all limits on immigration. (Minus essentials such as contagious disease)
The police would be given infinite power to crush organised crime. A small army would go into each city and town and find every last member of the mafia/gang/etc and they would be tortured to reveal secrets about the rest of their gang. Doing such over a period of time will result in the elimination of organised crime. (An example being where Mussolini deployed such a tactic in Italy and almost eradicated the mafia.)
With industry and infrastructure reorganised the nation would be set towards massive production of goods, with the only environmental concerns being that which are of benefit to humans. Animal rights groups and environmentalist ones that may oppose industrialisation or unethical treatment of animals will be ignored. If they aggress then they will be arrested for crimes against human improvement. Once sufficiently powerful the government will place in a full blown socialist healthcare system.
The goal is to continually improve. Money will be poured into education, the nation will slowly change its ideals to always strive for innovations and to make it a better place. However to prevent partisan politics the idea of a political party will be removed entirely and government officials may be still voted in, however the catch is that all the candidates can only be put forward based upon merit, and given media coverage (Also state controlled) dependent upon their merit.
Of course there will be massive opposition from various groups, of which the army and police should deal with efficiently, for anarchists and reactionaries seek to undermine the human race as a whole for their own purposes and needs and this is unacceptable.
Hire someone who actually has a fucking clue.
Hire someone to read me long posts on Facepunch that I don't feel like reading myself.

Looks like I got a job.
1. Sneak into another country all black-ops style.
2. Steal their gold.
3. Slowly add it to the gold bank.
4. Money is now worth more.
#1 restore taxes for the rich, and reform all tax cuts to remove loop holes that big business use to evade taxes. Tax the rich at a higher percentage than poorer people.
#2 give tax breaks to smaller business to help out struggling communities with lesser economic power than big businesses.
#3 Restrict spending by government officials so that there are no loopholes for them to spend millions of dollars of tax payer money on ridiculous means of transportation (private jets and helicopters to go to work and meetings), expensive excursions (trips to resorts just to have a meeting), and other bullshit that they use taxpayer money instead of their own from their already huge salary.
Those are the big things imo, im sorry to burst your bubble but legalizing marijuana/drugs and taxing it just wont bring in enough revenue to fix the however many trillions of dollars of debt we are in right now. What the US has to do is conserve its investments and assets in the world economy to keep foreign investors happy and giving us money. We need to get off our lazy ass and make a decision about the economy so we can be restored to a AAA economy again.
If you wanted to legalize marijuana/drugs this is where you would start. 21 to be able to purchase it (same as alcohol, so if alcohol was to drop for any reason, weed would follow it). Other harder drugs will be the same age HOWEVER only provided via pharmacy like crack, heroin, etc. These drugs will have to be sold on a day dosage to prevent people from buying a ton and becoming a drug dealer. Also, they have to undercut the dealers by selling it for less than them. Anyway, with every sell the buyer will have to sit through a 45minute drug class every time he/she goes to buy the drug (trust me, if you are addicted you will sit though a class to get your crack). So you do this every day if you keep coming back for it. Now, after 60 days of getting the drug you have to fill out a form that says you are addicted. This will then go onto your profile and come up when employers check your background. In order to remove it you have to seek help at an institution. Now i know there are a lot of holes in this idea etc but its an idea and with a lot of refinement could work, its a lot better than just saying LOL LEGALIZE EVERYTHING HUR HUR.

Im sorry but getting rid of the stock market would singlehandedly dismantle the world economy and fuck everything. That is the dumbest thing you can do. The stock market is basically how the US gets foreign investors to give money to big businesses in the US. Right now China and US are the number 1 places to invest. China literally has nowhere else to go with all of the money they are making right now. The US is the only place that can handle all of their investments and revenue. Even though the US is going through all this shit it is an AA+ economy, making it the best place to invest right now over all other nations. If you think that the stock market is a room where people are running around gambling money away throwing their hands in the air and shouting at shit throwing money away then you have no idea how it works. Its not clueless gambling, we have ivy league's school's brightest minds working at the stock market making money for investors. They know their shit and the whole economic recession was caused by corrupt individuals in the government that failed to put the money where it needed to be allowing huge investors and assets to completely crash and fail, losing billions in investments and royale fucking everything. It may not seem like it, but its bouncing back and hopefully if the US government would actually get off their indecisive ass they could make the full recovery.
Stop wasting so much money. Really. Last year I lived in Maine and was researching Maine's financial problems for a Senior year project (which I didn't finish. I moved to North Carolina this summer)
A couple of things I happen to remember that was wasteful spending just in Maine was;
$300,000 for 3 paintings at a rest area (why not have a contest at a local school for the best paintings, spend maybe $175 giving money to the top 3 winners?)
Over a million for a park in Massachusetts
$80,000 on bottled water for meetings
There is also a ton more problems with some of the structure of Maine's economy.
Did you know that Maine's game wardens are paid based on the amount of snowmobile and ATV registrations? If you're a game warden and it's a bad year for snowmobiling or ATVing, you're potentially going to lose your job or face lower pay.
I think the problem should be faced on a state by state basis, rather than tackling the whole nation at once.
Don't forget those note things that can be attached to bills. I seem to remember an ungodly amount of money being wasted there
Force companies to produce their product in the US, stop helping other countries, slowly import less and less until we're self sufficient. Then start selling off our surplus product.
legalize weed,
cut welfare, Through a better screening process with beter regualtions, Also make people do jobs rather than just give out unemployment; I dont care if they are greeting people at the post office or sweeping side walks this will cut down on people using the system for free cash
higher taxes on tabacco and alcohol,
Cut funding to prisons, re-route it to education (this will help in the long run)
Change the death penalty to organ donation (Receiver's insurance pays, we save cash and lives)
Get the fuck out of countries where we dont belong
Raise taxes on imported goods
Make it easier for people to become legal citizens
fix the holes in the cash flow between the government, corporations and tax renvenue. Also, force the states to cut down on pension promises and eventually take away unneccesary pension offerings. Force large corporations to stop biting huge chunks out of the economy and the government, just so they can provide for themselves.
It's their business, they created the problem, keep the government out of it, and don't fuck over your own customers.
Pull all of our troops out of different countries and send them back, and then cut military spending significantly.

It doesn't matter when the nation is self sufficient and beginning to improve itself.

You don't need investment when the state owns everything and a planned economy is in place.

The problem of finding investment is made much easier if you have a command economy in place. All you need is to send out orders, make sure people are working to better the nation as a whole and in return give them cheap food and goods.
Now you gentlemen may be asking, how the hell do you fix the national debt.
The solution is as elegant as it is simple, merely the debt and retreat into yourself as an isolationist mercantile nation then slowly expand over time and encourage massive immigration.
laissez faire
I will make a good president
raise taxes to 23 percent
give everyone free healthcare funded by the tax increase
make a massive impenetrable wall across the border of mexico funded by the tax increase, this will also create jobs
create many jobs from a massive road bridge repair and rebuild project funded by the tax increase
and then suddenly america has no more recession and no longer has a D infrastructure rating

Why not instead make it easier for people to become legal citizens and then they can pay taxes
