[quote]Canada's largest pharmacy chain has formally applied to be a distributor of medical marijuana.
"We have applied to be a licensed producer strictly for the purposes of distributing medical marijuana," Shoppers Drug Mart spokeswoman Tammy Smitham told CBC News in an email Tuesday.
"We have no intention of producing medical marijuana, but we do want the ability to dispense medical marijuana to our patients in conjunction with counselling from a pharmacist."
..............
Ottawa is in the midst of updating the laws surrounding the drug, including possibly legalizing it in a limited fashion for recreational use.

4 years or less, hopefully we'll have legal recreational marijuana in the US.
My mom is going to love this story.

Honestly if Clinton gets the presidency it's very likely. I think she'll want/need to win popular support among the general populace, federally legalizing a drug like weed that most Americans are already OK with as well as reaping all the tax profits that would come with it would be a good move for her.

Don't think Trump would be heavily against it either, but then again it will be a Mike Pence presidency, not a Trump one.
I wonder what new creative crazy shit is waiting to be unleashed by the legalization of weed.

Trump said he will leave it to the states to decide, so if he wins it just depends how liberal your state is with drugs.

That didn't really happen after same sex marriage was legalized in the US, though.
In fact, if I recall correctly, a couple of European countries (Slovakia, Croatia) even had referendums in order to make same sex marriage unconstitutional.
Not a single candidate is against weed really, and Hilary is bound to be pulled towards legalizing it by Bernie's supporters.
I'm wondering if Trudeau will meet the deadline he placed on himself to get weed legalized. In the past year i've seen my city go from 0 dispensaries to like 30+ so it kinda already feels legal but i'd feel a lot better about it if they were federally regulated. Here's to hoping it's official by April 20th 2017
