Stop Online Piracy Act Markup to Resume in February
Washington, D.C. — House Judiciary Committee Chairman Lamar Smith (R-Texas) today said that he expects the Committee to continue its markup of the Stop Online Piracy Act in February.
Chairman Smith: "To enact legislation that protects consumers, businesses and jobs from foreign thieves who steal America's intellectual property, we will continue to bring together industry representatives and Members to find ways to combat online piracy.
“Due to the Republican and Democratic retreats taking place over the next two weeks, markup of the Stop Online Piracy Act is expected to resume in February.
“I am committed to continuing to work with my colleagues in the House and Senate to send a bipartisan bill to the White House that saves American jobs and protects intellectual property."

HEY CONGRESS
FUCK OFF
Excellent.
[editline]k[/editline]
More time to fight it/get more people involved.
Jesus Christ, they're fucking persistant.
When is this shit going to end. There should be some sort of law barring progress of shit like this if it takes more than X number of markup meetings to go through, its just retarded that you can just keep pushing this shit on people over and over and over.
Fuck off SOPA and fuck off Lamar Smith you piece of shit.
This was ridiculous a long time ago. Postponing it will only make things more difficult.
I wonder how much money/perks this cost to convince people to continue to push it through.
Sounds like Congress is throwing a temper tantrum now that their shiny new bill was refused by a large portion of the population, only this time they actually couldn't pass it.
In the last markup, they talked about giving people time to realize what SOPA actually is. Look what happened. People realized.
Like I said before, Google should terminate their emails if they have one.
Dear god. They brought it back already after yesterday. This needs to be bumped, everyone needs to get back on the warpath for this.
a lot of work still needs to be done to get the word out about SOPA, hardly anyone I know is actually aware of this bill.
I think that if Congress' approval rating ever dips under 20% (because really, that's just fucking pathetic) that it should be suspended or elections be held for all representatives. I mean really, 11% approval? Disgusting.
SOPA's power is too great, it even devoured it's own creators in it's hunger for power. Only the three great Internet Wizards known as Google, Facebook, and Wikipedia can bring it down.
I don't know what to say anymore.
But tomorrow will definitely be the day EVERYONE realizes how bad SOPA is.
It's like they think that if they scream "WE'RE NOT LISTENING" enough at us we'll go away. Guess what. What works for you politically against your voters doesn't work against the internet.
i hope a bus hits lamar smith thats would be hilarious

They've already paid out the ass to get it this far, I'm sure they have no problem paying more.
When February comes around your gonna see "Stop Online Piracy Act Markup to Resume in March". Also it gives us time to download all the shit we can.

Remember that news article, about herpes being more popular than Congress. I swear, these people should get out of Congress right now. Let new people in Congress, and have a term limit in both parts.
And it doesn't matter how bipartisan it is, people are against SOPA.
Lamar Smith is a cunt, and I'm utterly disgusted at Congress.
Isn't this like the 3rd time they delayed it? Just drop it already.
I support SOPA. :downs:

lol'd harder than I should of
Let's keep getting it delayed. The old bastards might die of a heart attack before this passes.
Fuck ya just saw it on the news this morning. Unfortunately I just about had a Aneurysm on how wrong they got it. They said it was the movie industry vs. silicone valley, that and they said that the "silicone valley people" haven't proposed how to change it or make a bill of their own.
O RLY?
