Malala Yousafzai, the Pakistani girl shot by the Taliban, has told the UN that books and pens scare extremists, as she urged education for all.
Speaking on her 16th birthday, Malala said efforts to silence her had failed.
She was shot in the head on a school bus by Taliban gunmen because of her campaign for girls' rights.
Brave frickin' girl.
Who isn't? Paper cuts are nasty. And I've heard that pens are deadlier than swords, even.

They probably can't read or write, of course it scares them. The very notion that people would learn of a differing opinion or one that counters there's is terrifying to them.
I can't believe the courage in this girl. It's amazing. She sets the standard high for all of us to follow.
That's fuckin' awesome.
This speech was more rational than any number of speeches by heads of state regarding extremism. What an incredible woman.
This girl is the difference between people complaining they are oppressed, and people who have tangible, physical battles for human rights.
Fuckin' spot on Malala you champion.
