Here's another tag: "get death threats for making this your game of the year"
/v/'s having a field day over this.

I just had a beautiful vision.
It involved Raiden fighting an army of cyborg bears while Rules of Nature played.

yeah and a huge chunk of people thought CastleMiner Z deserved to get on steam - i thought the problem with greenlight was that people couldn't be trusted with those decisions ..?

But what does this have to do with Castleminer z?

we're talking about majority opinions, not facts that the majority agrees with. the majority believes that gone home isnt good. the majority thinks that the whatever game you pulled out of your ass was. deal with it.
[editline]13th February 2014[/editline]
same argument can be used against you: "wahh a game that i personally dont agree with got greenlit wahh"
[editline]13th February 2014[/editline]
besides i havent really seen enough evidence to support that a game being greenlit means that the majority of steam users liked it; i think it's more about profitability than popularity so your entire analogy is moot

i don't care about castleminer z - I'm raising a point that a lot of you guys seem to hate the majority for casualizing the entire industry and not taking gaming seriously enough and then you turn around and ravenously support these joke tags as some kind of bastion of free speech .... even though they're still the same majority that are swayed by hype and funny internet images
[editline]13th February 2014[/editline]
but the guys who called gone home hipster garbage are actually right and not equally ignorant!! because... haha walking simulator right guys? remember that one you tube video ??*wink wink*
or maybe the majority thought that gone home was overrated/overhyped and it's exactly as simple as that
[editline]13th February 2014[/editline]
its not some grand conspiracy to stop one indie developer from casualizing the entire industry, its not some anti lgbtq rights movement. maybe people just flat out didnt like the game because they found it boring, and found the glowing reviews from mass media unfounded. if you cant handle the fact that maybe people dont like the same games you like and that sometimes you will be in the minority with your opinions then idk what to tell you
[editline]13th February 2014[/editline]
let me be clear; i have no opinion on gone home. i never played it. but it annoys me when people act like whiny babies who pretend they are being persecuted directly because people dont like the games they do. its childish, arrogant, egotistical bullshit.
I've played gone home and it was ok
point being this:

is equally mindless as this:

... just because you guys agree with one side doesn't make it any more acceptable
okay ill concede that some of those are uncalled for, especially things like "gone homo," and maybe they do need to be reined in a bit. i also, however, think that people calling for any and all negative tags to be taken down are being unreasonable.
and talk about childish, arrogant, and egotistical !

It's a story of a couple of lesbians, right?
Sounds like a pretty relevant tag to me.

Besides, if Rust is untouched, I feel like the feature's been successful.

Seems pretty functional as far as I can tell
The problem is that the tag system is relatively new, so all sorts of tags are getting through, as it doesnt take much to be 'popular'.
When the tag system ages, a lot of the dumber tags will likely fade.

The difference between Greenlight and the tag system is games were greenlit based on ideas and weren't required to prove they actually worked. The tags are just a way for people to categorise shit based on what they want instead of steams old categories which were worthless.
Every fucking games was tagged as Adventure because it's a meaningless term. You may not like these tags but at least they're useful.

Actually a tiny portion of steam users even use greenlight. The problems with greenlight is that there's no proof needed that the game even exists, let alone functions correctly, and the system is mostly used by teenagers with nothing but time and the need to somehow enforce their opinions, even if that opinion is "That looks kind of cool."

The way it inserts the tag in the title like any other category is GOLD.

The last tweet in that teardrop makes me hope that the person made a typo, otherwise it means their dog eats things with its asshole.
I still feel like it should at least check that you own a game before letting you tag it
A potential problem becomes apparent in games tagged with words like ‘rip-off’, ‘Broken’, ‘Crap’ and ‘Dont buy this!’.
This isn't a problem at all, in fact this is one of the better uses of the system
