I've run malwarebytes and windows security essentials scans in safe mode. the first time the MSE scan found and destroyed 10 trojan downloaders. now though it seems like none of my scanners pick up anything. also my computer is running even slower. I'm wondering if i'm doing something wrong or if there's something else i can do. whenever i run rkill it stops these programs * C:\WINDOWS\system32\Ati2evxx.exe (PID: 996) [WD-HEUR] * C:\WINDOWS\system32\Ati2evxx.exe (PID: 1404) [WD-HEUR] * C:\WINDOWS\system32\CTsvcCDA.exe (PID: 520) [WD-HEUR] * C:\WINDOWS\system32\libusbd-nt.exe (PID: 1428) [WD-HEUR] * C:\WINDOWS\system32\CTHELPER.EXE (PID: 3240) [WD-HEUR] but even after running rkill my computer is extraordinarily slow. If there are any other informative scans i can run to help diagnose the problem i will. i remember there was at least one but i forget what it was. i would scan and post a log of that if i had it installed or remembered what it was called. [editline]21st June 2013[/editline] right now i'm trying to make a windows defender offline disk but the first time it didn't work so i'm not holding my breathe. I don't think specs would matter but here they are anyway windows xp sp3 3ghz p4 single core 1gb ram x1600 ati agp
Run CCleaner, let it clear out the registry entries that are invalid. You could however see if there's a lot of temporary stuff on there, that can slow the system down a bit.
if possible, please post/send me the logs of the scans
