The Cabinet Office presented a demographic policy scenario Feb. 24 to an expert panel under the government's Council on Economic and Fiscal Policy, which is tasked with discussing challenges the country will encounter over the next 50 years. Japan is currently facing a sharp rise in social security burdens as the work force shrinks and the overall population ages. The National Institute of Population and Social Security Research has projected the country will lose two-thirds of its current population over the next century if nothing is done to change the status quo. It said the population count will drop from 127.52 million in 2012 to 42.86 million in 2110. The Cabinet Office simulated a case in which Japan starts accepting 200,000 immigrants annually from 2015 until the total fertility rate, or the average number of children a woman bears during her lifetime, rebounds to 2.07--enough to maintain the population. The simulation figures said the introduction of immigrants, who will settle and have children in Japan, would make a difference of 22.68 million in the nation's population and raise the 2110 figures to 114.04 million, if birthrates were also to rebound. so it will finally start to happen.
rejoice otakus, weeaboos, soon you too will be able to be davido-kun. on a more serious note, its about time they realized they can't maintain their pop without immigration.
Finally I can go to Japan and live the kawaii life I've always dreamed of
Good. Maybe they'll learn to loosen up while they're at it.
Good. Maybe they'll learn to loosen up while they're at it.
oh they'll loosen up alright
oh they'll loosen up alright
Avatar is a wonderful fit
the ultra conservatives won't be happy about this specially mixing the gene pool
Will be interesting to see how this changes their crime rates.
Now I can go to japan and go sideways.
Will be interesting to see how this changes their crime rates.
it will probably go up with the police going after DEM IMMIGRANTZ!1 japanese police is VERY corrupt.
Avatar is a wonderful fit
And yours is a wonderful depiction of part of the reason for the population crisis.
Finally I can go to Japan and live the kawaii life I've always dreamed of
Japans in trouble. You have my staff.
Surprising considering how the current PM is a nationalist/populist.
I have a feeling if a bunch of weeaboos move to japan, it won't really increase their birthrates much.
the ultra conservatives won't be happy about this

..peaceful nature of Japanese society, as being the first things that would be sacrificed when foreigners started inundating Japanese shores.
Its not like foreigners pacified Japan and its the militaristic conservatives who claim this.
I think some cultural mixup would be good for Japan.
Surprising considering how the current PM is a nationalist/populist.
he might be scaring the population into having more sex
I'm marrying my Japanese anime full body pillow so my path to citizenship should be pretty easy
My Japanese dad really wants me to move to Japan and get a Japanese wife. MAYBE...MAYBE I WILL...
hatsune miku is all i need
I really can't see this going well, especially with the whole crime rate thing. Last thing I remember reading about crime in Japan is that you can sleep on a park bench overnight and wake up without anything missing.
I think some cultural mixup would be good for Japan.
Same. Flowers must open up to reveal their beauty.
I really can't see this going well, especially with the whole crime rate thing. Last thing I remember reading about crime in Japan is that you can sleep on a park bench overnight and wake up without anything missing.
Well, there is an image of safety and the crime rate is indeed low, but there is also a problem of police not following up on reports of certain types of harassment and assault, as well as some cases they can't solve being written off entirely to maintain said image of safety. Regardless of whatever link nationalists or other people want to draw between immigration and increased crime, Japan needs it if they want a competitive workforce or maintain their population.
it will probably go up with the police going after DEM IMMIGRANTZ!1 japanese police is VERY corrupt.
It's funny how they sort of don't support but they also don't completely go after the Yakuza to the point where the Yakuza operate openly.
If they do want to get more immigrants, they should change their immigration system.

Last thing I remember reading about crime in Japan is that you can sleep on a park bench overnight and wake up without anything missing.
In Japan, especially areas where the Yakuza operate, people don't fucking break laws out of fear of the yakuza. It's really weird over there. Areas with organized crime have the lowest actual crime figures.
I always wanted to go to japan and play the only games that has not arrived in America.
I'd probably consider a trip to japan if I had any sort of grasp of their language but sadly I don't and I have no motivation to learn Japanese whatsoever so there's that.
I'd totally pack and move if the cost of living wasn't comparable to that of Vancouver. Even rural areas are pretty expensive.
