I'm going to get a laptop, and while looking through all the offers it's become obvious that it would be cheaper to get a computer without an operating system. Thus I'm in a bit of a quandary here - should I get a laptop with Windows 7 on it, or should I try something new like Ubuntu and make away with the same amount of money only with a better laptop.
I think we can all just safely say that you should buy one WITHOUT an OS.
If this laptop is for educational purposes, running a Linux system is not a good idea.
I've finished high-school. But I'll hopefully end up in a university so..I take it that it isn't a good idea, right? Anyways, I mainly use computer for music listening, maybe making some, also watching movies and all that, I don't play all that much on computer. Mostly games that are free or emulators. Morrowind is an exception.. But if I'll be needing to do uni work then it'd be better if I choose windows?
If there's gonna be any making music I don't think any linux system is an option
I need an efficent laptop!!
If your university is part of the MSDNAA program you might be able to get Windows for free.
Hell, if you have a .edu account you can get Server 2008 free. Not really optimal, but it works.
