SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. -- Agents found 1,200 pounds of marijuana (see images) in a massive bust Wednesday and investigators say it’s worth more than $1 million. WFTV learned that the marijuana investigation centered on University of Central Florida students.
Earlier this month, WFTV reported on the investigation into drug rings. Agents raided 12 homes that were all involved in a major drug ring.
Agents said the drugs likely came from Mexico, through Texas, and into Polk County. The dealers planned to distribute it to every other Central Florida county.
No one was arrested in the latest discovery. Investigators say their main concern was getting the large amount of pot off the streets and, by doing so, they've slowed down one of the most intricate and well-organized drug rings in Central Florida.
"This marijuana was intended for Central Florida streets. There's no doubt about that," Lt James Clark of the Seminole County Sheriff's Office said.
Now, it's off the streets. It took close to 20 undercover Seminole County deputies to off-load and weigh the bricks. They had enough to build a wall.
Investigators said all the drugs they confiscated were hidden in a tar pot trailer (see it), which is usually used for heating tar for roofing or road repair. They said the tar pot was fully-functional, but the bottom of the tar pot was hollow and that is where the drug dealers hid the marijuana.
The huge stash was the result of a six-month-long multi-agency investigation. Before the 1,200-pound find, agents had already confiscated another 600 pounds of marijuana and put 41 dealers, in a well-organized drug ring, behind bars (mug shots | bust video | bust photos)
"They ran this like a business, like a corporation. They actually had board meetings," Clark said.
WFTV was there when ring leader David Cole was handcuffed at his house earlier this month. Detectives say he helped distribute the drugs around Central Florida. His main buyers were allegedly UCF students.
Undercover officers said the group shipped the pot in from California, not just from Mexico. They would buy pot from dealers who were growing it under California’s medical marijuana law.
"This is not going to end. This is evidence that this is not going to end," Clark said.
As the drug investigation continues, the undercover officers say they're funneling backwards trying to find out who the suppliers are and how the suspects are getting the drugs to Central Florida.
Police report it was destroyed in a series of small fires.
:wtc:
There was a larger pot bust in Jersey and it wasn't even close to half a ton.
In total, 10 search warrants were executed over five days by numerous agencies in three counties. Along with a vast array of indoor cultivation equipment, 3,370 growing plants, 115 pounds of harvested marijuana and $65,000 cash was seized.
EDIT: What I'm saying is, how the hell could 1200 lbs. of Pot only be $1 million? Doesn't make sense to me.
This has been happening a lot recently, eh?
Smoke it all.
Going by Florida's general sales tax of 6%, that's $60,000 potential dollars for the government burned away.
Poor florida, it's hopes have all gone to pot.
This should go to help pay for the new Health Care program.

Hopefully California will get a head-start on this in November if that ballot passes.

I assume they dont breathe in the fumes

Except you can't sell it legally...
I assume they dont breathe in the fumes
congrats you get the joke
Except you can't sell it legally...
that's my point.
would have made $60,000.
but instead we probably spent a shitload of money busting it.
but it's worth it to make sure people don't grow a plant! :buddy:

It's only illegal if you get caught.
"Investigators say their main concern was getting the large amount of pot off the streets"
Because we all know what ungodly carnage would have happened otherwise
I'm seeing patterns. A thread like this pops up about once every two months, and a thread about how some insane incorrect price marking on an online website comes up every twelve, while every month and a half a thread comes up about some crazy awesome technology that sadly gets forgotten, and Garry makes a popular thread every three.
These are probably very inaccurate but you get the point. It's kind of interesting.
I love how when they "incinerate the narcotics" to remove them from use, they wear clean suits and gas masks. Shit, I'd just burn it in every day clothes.
They gave each policeman a few grams and told to burn it. In other news, 4000 policemen are suspected of using marijuana.

Then you have possibly intoxicated cops, cops cannot do their job when everything looks like badgers.

Depending on where you are pot varies in price.
Want to know an ACTUAL price from a low-down dealer? I pay $1600 for a pound, and always (at least) double my money. Now, that times 1,200 = $3,840,000. But you have to realize, 10 pounds of pot is typically not going to be the pirce of 1 times 10, it'll be a discount, etc.
Not again. :eng99:
I want to start dealing drugs as a side job. It's not illegal to buy seeds in Canada so I'll just have a mini grow op in my apartment. And I mean mini, I'm not going all out here. Just enough for myself, and sell some on the side for extra income.
Very profitable business
hahaha it amazes me how much they value the street drugs. "we found an ounce of Marijuana! street value 10 thousand! good job boys!"
I'm glad they helped stimulate demand for it.
