Definitely one of the all time greats, good to see it go free so more people can get to try it.

Sweet
Viktor Troska would be proud.
Best FPS game I've played in a while
BIS is such an awesome company
Now I can play the game everyone is always talking about in the General Media thread. Yay!
[editline]23rd June 2011[/editline]
Download link that works
[url]http://www.multiupload.com/878RT4ZYVU[/url]
so 'OFP: Cold war crisis' is now 'Arma: Cold War Assault'?
bis really shouldn't have to change the name because codemasters stole it and made it crap.
So I just put in my ye olde OpFlash disc and then i get Cold War Assault?
Download link takes ages to load... Always wanted to try this game!
Going to download this and then put that zombie mod on
[QUOTE=garychencool;30657913]ARMA 2 FOR FREE?

-minus fancy graphics
no anti-alising i guess

Links to getting the ARMA: Cold War Assault download
You'll need a valid OFP:Cold War Crisis or OFP:GOTY cd-key
So what exactly is that ARMA:CWA thing? Is it Operation Flashpoint remade on the ArmA engine, a visual improvement to the original Flashpoint or just a simple patch for Flashpoint?

It's not like many people would run it with every options on
The free version of A2, as I recall, doesn't have the campaign, high definition graphics or allow mods.
inb4 the craphics are like the lite versions of the DLCs
Awwwwww yeaaaaaah.
Been waiting to try this.
[editline]23rd June 2011[/editline]
I can live with low graphics and no mods, as long as the game is fun.
I've always wanted to try this, but wasn't willing to spend a lot of money on it since I'm not sure if it's the kind of game that I would like. Definitely going to give it a try.
Too bad that from what I've heard everyone plays Operation Arrowhead, vanilla multiplayer is dead.
Still, a free great game is a free great game and this will spark life into vanilla multiplayer.

It doesn't allow mods? Fuck, I wanted to try the zombie mod.
Yeah. But honestly, I prefer the set up in Operation Arrowhead. Its a lot more involved and you can do a lot more. I mean, I love having the ability to zero my rifle as a sniper or throw a bunch of shit in a pack take to the battlefield. It just felt like they made it work better overall. And they improved on the gameplay in general with things like the AI and the dialogue to some degree.

Though I do miss thick forests. Those made for some intense firefights when you couldn't tell where shots were coming from or even where your allies were. Now its all just running around big, barren deserts.
No ingame advertising or anything? Neat.

Operation Arrowhead is like OFP Resistance; everyone and most of the mod teams eventually migrate to it and leave the original, vanilla version in the dust.
Argh, every time I try to get a key to the free version all I get is: Not authentified by the OpenID provider.
[editline]23rd June 2011[/editline]
Nevermind.
[editline]23rd June 2011[/editline]
nevermind
slowpunc
Dang I paid $8 for that game :argh:
Didn't much like it either tbh
Woot, downloading it. Seem like free day because Arma II and TF2 is free.
Except people are bitching about TF2 somehow.
i'm guessing the free version and paid version work together?
