My old AM2 motherboard died which came in a prebuilt, and I'm thinking of replacing it with this.

I have 3GB of DDR2 RAM in the form of 2 sticks somehow, I'm not sure as it came with the prebuilt, an Athlon 7450, and an AMD 5770. I'm planning on upgrading to an AM3 processor sometime in the future, but not very soon. Anyone have a better suggestion?
You might as well get an AM3 motherboard that supports DDR3 and 2 - so you have an option of upgrading more easily.

I had this motherboard and it worked just fine.

The one I posted, someone in a review said that they were running DDR3 memory on it somehow. Also, the one you posted has the VIA onboard sound, which I've heard is rather dodgy.
For what I'm doing, I don't think I'll need DDR3, since that's a whole new purchase as well. Thanks for your input!
Yours also only has a 100MBit NIC, while the one I posted has 1Gbit
Is your network even gigabit? And there's absolutely no way someone got DDR3 RAM working on the motherboard you posted, it's a completely different socket. I've used both VIA and Realtek and VIA is definitely much better IMO. They allow the Front and back headphone ports to be the same output, Realtek doesn't, they separate them as different audio devices. Doesn't matter, though, all onboard sound is pretty much identical.
Go with whatever, I just thought it would be useful if you ever decided to get an AM3 CPU you could use DDR3, too.

I had heard a few horror stories of VIA not working so well, but if you say so, I believe you. DDR3 does seem nice for the future, but I haven't heard much about ASRock's support so I was leaning a lot towards the Gigabyte board because I've heard good things about their support. Can you attest to ASRock's support return handling?

For me front and back headphone ports give the same output, there's a setting in drivers to separate them though.

It won't output them bot hat the same time.

No, I've had two motherbaords from them because they were cheap, they both work flawlessly, the second ones analogue audio out is messed up though, tbh. It's VIA too, but I think it's a PSU problem since it got much better after installing a new PSU.

Thanks a lot for your input bud, I think I'll go with that.
When it says 3 x USB 2.0 headers (support 6 USB 2.0 ports) in the specs, does that mean connectors for the front panel USB? Because it says it has 4 USB inputs in the back.
Yeah, that's for front panals, you can get backplates for where the PCI cards go, or plates that fit Floppy drive bays, or optical drive bays, too.
Just a heads-up: AM3 CPU's works in AM2 motherboards, but not the other way.
ASRock N68C-S UCC supports AM3, AM2+, and AM2, it also has DDR2 and DDR3 RAM slots (2 each).

Fair enough, sorry for not checking through. I reconned it it could be different with this mobo since it has both DDR2 and DDR3 slots, but I wasn't sure.
