FUCK YES!
I've been waiting for this announcement and its exactly what I was dreaming it would be. Ruby and Sapphire on the 3DS. Coming out THIS year no less.
Welp, this is going on the must buy list.
It'll be a tad odd to have both this version and the originals technically still compatable with current games, but I look forward to seeing how the R/S generation fares with all the new things that have been added so far.
I just hope that they have the willpower to resist dumb generation tie-ins this time. Since Heartgold and Soulsilver were released around the same time as Diamond and Pearl, there were a lot of inserted scenes where you came across D/P gym leaders who basically went "Hey I'm from a whole different region that's out in stores go buy it now go go go!"
It... didn't really stand the test of time.
I wonder how it's going to be when they remake Fire Red/Leaf Green.
the names are still kind of stupid

Soul Silver and Heart Gold came out 3-4 years after Diamond and Pearl. I never even noticed the tie in stuff you are talking about and I played the shit out of Soul Silver.

Out of generation stuff usually happens after you beat the game. Why would you want to lock out all that extra content when it's already there?
Wait, these are real? I saw the post online somewhere and thought it was a prank, thought it was too good to be true.
I wonder if they'll make Epsilon Emerald or something, too.

Also, do I see a mega kyogre and mega groudon in that box art? O_o

No, I think they just changed the patterns on their bodies.

Remake of a remake?
No, I think they just changed the patterns on their bodies.
DAMN! It really would be epic to see kyogre and groudon go at it again in mega form.
Did I just come up with the pokemon equivilant of godzilla vs. mecha godzilla?
They announced Heart gold and Soul Silver on this date years ago.
neat little tidbit of info a friend told me.
Also that would be REALLY cool if they added more mega forms in this game, they already got mega blaziken. I wonder if that was actually set up because they knew what game they were making next, now we get the other two mega forms of the starters.
