These double XP weekends were the thing that made me think, "Wait... that's a Call of Duty thing... the hell?"
Couldn't care less, got bored of this game in half the time it took to get bored of Bad Company 2.

The opposite for me. I got bored of BC2 as soon as the game came out. BF3 is starting to wear off though, and this double XP seems to only be good for the newer/lower rank players.
I don't really like double exp.
I want to take a longer time before getting max rank.
Oh well, not that I can use this anyway since they still haven't fixed the stuttering problem that hundreds of people are having.

I don't get this mindset.
"NO I WANT TO SPEND MORE TIME TO GET SOMETHING I WANT, HOW DARE I GET SOMETHING SOONER?"
Is it the idea that it will be more satisfying because of all the work?

Yes, exactly.
Getting it faster kinda feels like cheating to me.
But that's just me.
I don't know why Battlefield 3 has been getting bad press on this forum recently. As a premium and high ranking player it doesn't bother me. It doesn't benefit me as i have a higher rank and things are harder to get. If anything it helps the lower ranking players with the stress that they are surrounded with people who have guns that suit them better.
I'm never at home when double exp weekends happen in a game I play. I also always miss the best Steam sales. fuck.
EA doesn't like call of duty but now they're trying to copy it?
What
EA doesn't like call of duty but now they're trying to copy it?

Yes because clearly having a weekend where you earn XP twice as fast every once in a while indicated Call of Duty copycat.
ive seen many more games do double xp than just bf3 and cod
As a premium and high ranking player
how does it feel to invest so much of your time and money into a dying game
pretty much actually
i mean it seems like nowadays all fps games are flaunting is;
LENS FLARE/GIMMICKY GRAPHICS
UNLOCKS AND UPGRADES BECAUSE USING THE GUN YOU WANT FROM THE START IS STUPID
DLC DLC DLC DLC MAPPPP PACKSSSSS
BOOM EXPLOSION CAMPAIGN IS YOUR ADHD SATISFIED YET?
SHITTY WEAPON BALANCE
QUICKSCOPE $WAGGER
Been playing FPS games since Doom and competitive multiplayer FPS games since Quake, can't agree with you more. So much focus is taken off the playability, balance, and performance of games and put more into gimmicks, "engines" as a marketing term, and grindy unlock based weapon progression.

CoD isn't the first to do Double-XP but you guys always find a way to bring that game into a BF thread just to be a bag of dicks.

News Node 101.
Still got plenty of fun in this game. Playing with some clan mates from time to time, working on the unlocks. BF3 still has these wonderful moments where you're in a full-on firefight where everything around you starts blowing up and breaking down. Every time I try to look at this game with new eyes, I'm impressed by the audio and visual design. It's as triple-A as gaming gets right now.
I agree, but for me it also has those boring moments where the enemy spawnrapes, exploits, use the same overpowered guns you haven't unlocked yet and hack.
It's fun when you get to a good server though.
